Best Coed Team
My favorite coed team this season has to be UNC Bhangra Elite. Perfect execution and always entertaining to watch. I really enjoyed TAG-Coed and Cal Bhangra as well
Best All Guys Team
Hey yo ABC! Gotta give a big honorable mention to NJ for their performance at Jashaan and JJ for Elite, but ABC had that extra performance or two which set them apart from the other teams.
Best All Girls Team
TAG! So solid.
Best US Team
ABC
Best Canadian Team
Kohinoor Folk Arts Club- This team brought it this year to every comp they went to. Loved every performance, and looking forward to more. I also loved BCC/VanCity and NJ
Most Improved
Cal Bhangra loved this team more and more with every performance! Great job guys! Also gotta give love to CMU Bhangra for an amazing year.
Best Competition to perform in
BHANGRA IN THE BURGH.
Best Competition to watch
Elite 8. I have been to all 3 elites, but i gotta say that this years elite was special. I didnt particularly enjoy elite 2 and wasn't planning on attending elite 3 but im so glad i did. Im really looking forward to attending this competition again in 2013! please dont drag on with the team announcements tho...
Best Set
This is tough...JJ at elite was absolutely amazing. This set was so well crafted and executed. I loved FAUJ at VPD cause those dudes went HARD. I loved NJ at Jashaan. TAG-Coed at Bruin. So many great sets and moments from this year already!
Best Gimmick
Not really gimmicks, but APDs flip off the tower made my heart skip a beat haha and then later THE PROPOSAL was nuts!
Worst Gimmick
I am not the biggest fan of gimmicks, and this year was full of them. Im really over the light shows. I think there are a million and a half ways to use lights in your routine that will look great and each new thing a team does can always be looked at as cool and creative. but to me, its played out. im over lights. please dont turn off the stage lights during your routine so that instead of watchin you dance in beautiful vardi that cost hundreds of dollars im watching your lit up saaps or glow sticks or wahtever lights u use that cost you 5 bucks do pretty much nothing to enhance the DANCE that you took so much time to make up.
MVD (Most Valuable Dancer)
ARJUN BARUA - almost every team on the circuit has been influenced by Arjuns dancing and spirit. Theres no one else who could top this mans dedication!
Best Team
I think for me JJ does it. I could watch the video from elite over and over and find something intricate that i missed before. Great job this year, and i hope you guys decide to Favre the retirement.
Self Pumps
- Steel City had NASTY vardi this year (https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/536400_10150694085257825_381814049_n.jpg)
- FCB/SCB/CMU mixes are some of the most thought out and well crafted mixes out there. Too many teams dancing to mixes that are just PUMPED UP with unnecessary samples and drum beats. also to all the djs out there- dont release bhangra mixes that dont have dhol in them. it just doesnt make sense.
- SiddyP and Saab- two of the most creative choreographers on the circuit. a great duo, and a great set of captains!
-CMU brought it this year. somehow they went under the radar while they placed at every competition they went to this year. Big props to Amar and Akshay for creating such a great set and developing their dancers. If you havent seen their vids yet, go watch them.
-Steel City- couldnt be more proud of this team. I absolutely love the Bhangra Blowout performance, and I think you guys did a great job throughout the season. Well done Sid, Milan, and Priya

I'll total the results at the end of next week (6/24) and give you guys the statistical rundown on the season that was. In the meantime, though, I thought of another couple of topics.
Most interesting concept (ie: theme carried through entire routine):
Most creative team:
AAAAAAND go.

Okay, so finally I actually got around to tallying all of this up, just in time to be two weeks late for the new season, lol.
Best Coed Team: Pretty clear consensus here. Your winner is CAL! Votes- Cal (19), UNC (9), Davis Di Dynasty (2), Cornell, TAG at Bruin (3)
Best All-Guys Team: This was so close that we tied and that three votes separated first through eighth places. Your winners are AEG and SGPD!
Votes- AEG (7), BCC (4), ABC (5), JJ (6), SGPD (7), BK (5), VDW (2), NYPD (5), PCBCA, NJ (4)
Best All-Girls Team: pretty clear consensus here too. Your winner is SMD! Votes-All girls: SMD (16), AMPD, AVA (3), TAG (10), Shan-e girls (2)
Best US Team: Another pretty clear outcome. The winner is AEG! Votes-AEG (18), ABC (5), BK (6), VDW (2), JJ (3), Empire, FAUJ
Best Canadian Team: For my sanity's sake, I lumped BCC/VanCity/PANJ together as VanCity. Don't think this influenced the outcome, though, since this was pretty clear too. The winner is BCC/VanCity/PANJ! Votes-NJ (7), BCC (13), Shan-e-Punjab West, SGPD (7), PCBCA, NYPD (3), Kohinoor
Most Improved: A pretty clear outcome, but a wide range of teams represented here. The winner is Cal! Votes-Cal (18), UNC (4), BAR-B, Guardians (2), Virsa Folkstars, Furteelay Shokeen (2), FAUJ, Virginia Tech (3), BK (4), CMU (5), PANJ
Best competition to perform in: Pretty clear win for the guys at EMDO here. The winner is Elite Eight! Votes-Jashan (2), Elite ( 8) , Bruin (2), Blowout, Warrior, Burgh
Best competition to watch: This was a close one, but sun, sand and freeways won out over the District. The winner is Bruin Bhangra XIV! Votes-Elite 8 (15), Bruin (18), Idols (3), tdot, Jashan, blowout, Warrior, BAB
The Best Set of 2011-12: A tight contest with quite a few nominees, but in the end, it came down to two sets from Elite. The winner, by a single vote, is Joshiley Jawan at Elite Eight 2012! An honorable mention goes to NYPD at Elite Eight. Votes-AEG Boston (3), BK Bruin (4), ABC Bruin (2), FCB Bruin (4), JJ E8 (10), NYPD E8 (9), Gabroo Punjabis at NP, VanCity Idols, NJ Idols 2011 (2), NJ Jashan (2), Kohinoor Warrior (2), BK E8, UNC elite (2), Kohinoor Bulldog, FAUJ VPD
Best Gimmick: Once again, this was a very tight contest. It came down to my two favorite gimmicks of the year and the winner, by a single vote, was BK's finale at Bruin Bhangra 2012! An honorable mention goes to Navi Sandhu and the guys from AEG at BBC2011. Votes-Navi at BBC (10), BK Bruin (11), FAUJ Bayside, UNC Drumline (2), Empire magic trick/floating Dholi (5), AEG bruin 2011, AEG Bruin 2012 (floating Navi), APD at Elite
Team of the Year: This was another close contest, with many people omitting this category all together. In the end, though, the winner is SGPD! Votes-AEG (4), BCC (4), DDD, SGPD (6), BK, Cal, VDW, NJ (3), UNC, JJ
Weirdest Gimmick: Pretty clear winner here. You chose TAG's Avenger's gimmick as this year's weirdest gimmick. Votes-Avengers (12), Empire Magic Show, "Anything DRP did," UNC Drumline, Furteelay Shokeen at BAB, NYPD at E8, NYPD 300 (4), Steel City Taco Bell (3)
Best Mix: Another category that came down to NYPD and JJ. The winner was JJ at Elite Eight! Votes-JJ (11), NYPD T-dot (7), SMD Elite/Bruin (2), SGPD idols, FS at MLIB, AEG at Bruin 11 (2), Cal Blowout/Sin City (2), tag bruin (2), Cal Nachda Punjab (2), UNC elite (3), Cornell Blowout, BK Bruin, Vancity idols, NYU Blowout
Best Live team: a late addition with only a few votes. The winner is Gabroo Punjabis! Votes-VDW, Kohinoor (2), Gabroo Punjabis (3)
Best Vardiyaan: Another late category. The winners are JJ and ABC at Bruin, tied at two votes a piece. Votes-ABC at Bruin (2), AEG Bruin, ABC at wolverine, JJ (2), NYPD elite
MVD: Another late addition. The winner deserves to go out on top, though. Your 2011-12 MVD is Arjun Barua! Great end to an illustrious career. Votes-Alan Guan (2), Ram Mahalingam, NJ Twins, Arby, ASG, Barua (3)
Best Coed Team: Pretty clear consensus here. Your winner is CAL! Votes- Cal (19), UNC (9), Davis Di Dynasty (2), Cornell, TAG at Bruin (3)
