End of Season Review: 2012-13

[Hoya Singh]

Hey guys since most major competitions for the season are winding down, I think its time to review what went down this season.

I'll start and feel free to add your own categories

Best Coed Team: Cornell
Best All Guys Team: FAUJ
Best All Girls Team: SMD
Best Live Team: Nachdi Jawani
Best US Team: FAUJ
Best Canadian Team: Vancity
Most Improved: FAUJ or Furteelay Shokeen
Best Competition to Watch: WBBC
Best Set: Tie between BK and FAUJ at WBBC
Best Gimmick: BK grenade at WBBC or AEG Uncle at Bruin
Best Vardiyaan: AEG
Best Mix: Furteelay Shokeen at Motor City
Best Team: FAUJ

[JSaw]

Best Mix- GCC @ WBBC

[jfried]

Best Coed Team: Cornell. HUGE performance at WBBC. More exciting than any other coed team this year.
Best All Guys Team: FAUJ. Dominant year for them, even though they didn't win what was probably the toughest match up at WBBC.
Best All Girls Team: SMD. TAG fell off a bit this year, DCBC just isn't quite there yet and none of the collegiate all-girls lineups are in remotely the same league.
Best US Team: FAUJ.
Best Canadian Team: NGPD. Sure, Vancity may have had a better year, but I'm so excited to see what NGPD will do next year.
Most Improved: Furteelay Shokeen. Great year for those guys.
Best Competition to Watch: WBBC. Awesome comp to watch, neat ideas and it ran on time!
Best Set: Cornell at WBBC. While BK's set has held up better to close scrutiny, my gut reaction to Cornell's set the first time was being totally stunned. Takes a lot to make me speechless.
Best Gimmick: BK grenade at WBBC, AEG Uncle and khunde lasers at Bruin, or the popup khunde at WBBC.
Best Vardiyaan: between BK and FAUJ. BK has better kurte, but I love the FAUJ vests.
Best Mix: Either PDAP from Blitz, UVA di Shaan at Blowout XX or FAUJ at Idols.
Best Team: FAUJ

[J-Skeet]

Best Coed Team: Cal Bhangra. I think we can all agree that it should've been Cal v Cornell and Rutgers v UNC at WBBC. Anyway Cal had a much more solid season bhangra season as opposed to Cornell. Yea the wbbc gimmicks were outrageous, but 1 set doesn't define a teams season imo.
Best All Guys Team: FAUJ
Best All Girls Team: TAG Bhangra. TAG only competed once in Burgh, but there set, imo, hit harder than any other all girls set this year. Really wish that could've came out to WBBC.
Best Live Team: Definitely PCBCA at BAB 2012, but if that doesn't make the regular season deadline then NJ at MCB would be my next choice.
Best US Team: FAUJ
Best Canadian Team: Shan E Punjab had a better season in terms of success, but Vancity sets really hit hard for me. I'll give it a tie between the two.
Most Improved: Virsa Folkstars Tdot, direct comparison to 2011 Tdot set.
Best Competition to Watch: BATB (Basically WBBC w/o the gimmicks)
Best Set: PCBCA at BAB 2012, NJ at MCB,
Best Gimmick: Best gimmick had to be the ending of Cornells WBBCs set. Best gimmick that had to do with bhangra was definitely laser khundes by AEG.
Best Vardiyaan: SGPD at BAB 2012, FAUJ both sets in the season.
Best Mix: FCB at Fever
Best Team: FAUJ
Best Debut Team: NGPD
