Can someone give me tips to equalize bass, mid, and treble frequencies?

Thanks
if your on acid pro 4, or 6 (Not sure about 7) you gotta click this thing by the track name on the left panel where it has all the volume and names etc. and then theres an icon, dun remember what but once you click on it, 4 numbers show up from 1 - 4 and each one is something else. 1 i blelieve is bass and 4 is treble, thats all you gotta know and keep playing around till you get what you want :)

ravi's right, in acid the left are the low frequencies, to the right are the higher ones

As far as how to actually do it...it's a lot of trial and error to get a feel for it. Low frequencies are bass obviously and most vocal is in the high-mid to high frequencies. So just determine what you want to do (lower/raise bass...lower/raise vocals/instruments) and that'll give oyu some direction.

avoid red-lining....I try to keep it to around +3 or +4db max

Always remember, the end user whom is going to listen the track has an equalizer as well... This is a mistake I see time and time again... People will equalize a track heavily not understanding that any given stereo you play it in will also boost depending on end user settings...

For example, if you equalize the track and give it 10 db of bass boost in the 60hz region, and the end users stereo is also boosting bass around 6db, you pretty much have 16db of boost now... This is why some teams mixes have such heavy bass to the point where it is distorted (bass drops) etc etc...

Best scenario, get good monitor speakers that can accurately and effectively reproduce all frequencies... Make sure all levels are flat on the monitors, and give it gentle boost...
