sigh such a heartbreaking loss.
I knew sooner or later the weak defense of the Dutch would catch up with them. Can't undermine the play of the Russians though, simply great soccer on their part. With Arshavin's presence on the field after his 2 game suspension was finally over, the Russian offense exploded. I can't imagine how hard it was for Khalid Boulahrouz of the Dutch to play in this game with the death of his baby daughter 2 days before this. He is the Netherland's one great world class defender and i'm sure he wasn't mentally there to provide the great defense he usually does. All around it was an exciting match from start to finish, but the Russians persistence and stamina lead them to the huge upset. I can't wait for 2010 as the World Cup approaches (i know it's still 2 years away, but wishful thinking!) and hope to see the army of brilliant orange flourish once again and make an impact in South Africa!
It was fun while it lasted fellow Netherland's fans! KNVB forever!
