as much as i like LT
AP was just a rookie and will improve this year and years to come
LT is more versatile whereas AP is just a straight up nasty, physical runner
in short, Adrian Peterson is the better of the two

im gonna go with LT because he is solid every year and adrian peterson is really really good but hes only played one season so im not sure whether he can top that season.. they are both good but i would go with the consistancy factor of LT

lt, hands down

adrian had the monster rookie year, with massive games, but he also had major flop games, esp near the end of the year, and there are still injury concerns with him. also, if you are doing a points per reception league, like our btf league, lt is your man

I wouldn't say LT hands down...cuz Adrian Peterson can have a monster season like he did last year then we will all be retrospectively bitching....

BUT...the reason you go with LT is as someone already mentioned... he is much more versatile of a scorer....Adrian Petersons running style also sets him up for injury...and injuries to one of your RBs is fantasy suicide...

I'd say LT..he runs your points up like crazy even if he has a mediocre season in LT standards.

LT is coming back from surgery on his knee and then again more teams will be ready for AP this year too, so I would go with LT just cuz he is proven while AP is still questionable.

This is a toss up for SO many reasons.

Firstly, something that nobody mentioned is that this will be the first full season with the chargers being under the new offensive coordinator Clarence Shelmon's system. Norv Turner is running the ship, the same guy who introduced the offensive set to the chargers in 2001, that led partially to the success of LT. But a full season with a new Offensive coordinator under the helm creates a whole new situation.

I like LT better for now just because Norv Turner is again the head coach, the guy credited for building LT. BUT, with AP on the viks, they did just get defensive game changer jared allen, and shored up their secondary. Over the year, thats gonna put the ball in the hands of the offense a lot more. As we saw later in the year, AP become a much better start than Chester Taylor because the carries started going his way. SO, its a closeeeeeeee decision taking those considerations into account.

But LT is gets more passing out of the backfeild, and is the safer bet. The viks like taylor better in passing plays. Also Peterson is not a phenom anymore. I cant see him pulling out anymore 297 yrd rushing games.

I had a joke about the thread and the validity, but DAMN BTF is moderated, its not POL haha.

im not doubting adrian peterson's pure football talent by any means, he has the tools to be a hall of fame player, but his production fell off HUGE after the monster game, with only one 100 yard game and 2 DNP's from weeks 10-17. if you decided to pick adrian peterson, you must handcuff him to chester taylor, a more than capable backup rb. and like draft day 2007, his durability has to be a concern for you come fantasy draft day 2008.

AP plays on astro turf, he's gunna blow his knee out pretty soon... its a matter of time before one of his feet get caught up and he tears his acl or something... Minnesota's stadium is gay as hell...

Hey guys, thought I'd chime in since its football

The LT/AD (yes its "AD" b/c his teammates have always said he can run All Day) fantasy debate is more so about league settings and team dynamics than pure ability. As Sulman already stated, in a league that gives you points per reception, LT should be the obvious choice, though the Vikings have claimed to start getting Adrian the ball out of the backfield more. The injury concern is also a huge one with not only Adrian, but all running backs...durability through 16 games is a lot to ask of any starter in the NFL. Adrian's upright running style definitely does leave him in the open for injury, but it also tends to roll tacklers over and get him insane yards after contact.

I honestly think the most important part of this discussion has to be the talent surrounding the players on offense. I'm as big an AD fan as they come, especially considering he went to OU, but Tarvaris Jackson straight up can't cut it. SD has a solid QB in Rivers, and the best TE in the game in Gates, so they can tend to keep defenses honest. Peterson on the other hand will face 8 men in the box all day long, and that is the reason he tends to have games where he is shut down. You put enough ppl in the box and any RB will be shut down, but its the passing game's responsibility to keep a defense honest.

Either way, you can't go wrong with these two...head says LT, heart says AD

i think ambarish is right, offensively the chargers got much more weapons... Also dont forget that LT still had more rushing yards than AP last year even though AP put out those 200+ yards rushing games.. .

But someting about the viks looks liked they are posed for a big year. Steve Hutchinson is defintely an offesnive game changer.

Unless the Vikes pull a heist and get Farve up in Minny (dont know how the Pack would allow that, but lets just say they have a massive brain fart), AD will be looking at 8 in the box all game. I can probably read braille faster than Travaris Jackson can read defenses, that guy straight blows. Lets hope he gets better this year, for Peterson's sake. I go with LT, because I bet he's gonna throw for a TD's as well again.
