There is definitely a lack of education. But it's still sad and disheartening to see/hear about someone being bullied simply because they appear a certain way. People just need to be better human beings. I wouldn't make fun of someone just because I didn't know about their background or what community they're from. I would hope that's a humanistic trait that everyone possesses - being nice, at the very least.

yeah I was the only non-white kid at my school till high school, there I was the only Punjabi/Indian

shit does suck at first whenever you're the new kid, because you gotta break everyone in and show the dumbasses what's truly up, but I educated people along the way and it helps to have comebacks. If you're a child, it is hard though.

schools need to spend like 2 weeks out of the year or something talking about "hey guys, everyone's the fucking same, don't be stupid and here's some stuff about cultures"

I think grade schools across the US and Canada really need to develop their lessons about world faiths and religions in their Social Sciences classes. When I was in grade school, they literally spent 15 mins about Sikhism while spending about 5 days about Christianity and Hinduism.


Regardless of how long the history is, I think each religion should get an equal opportunity to be presented. Even in my first college semester, my World Civilization classes didn't even TOUCH on Sikhism, even in the South East Asia unit.
