What did you guys think about the audio? I had a dedicated recorder on stage at this show (first time ever) to record local performer ambience. This is why the shikay sound so crisp. However, because there is so much going on in terms of audio (3 feeds downmixed into 1) I had to run it through a compressor, which does (to a trained ear) effect the audio when there's a peak in levels. So briefly, to you guys, does it sound good, should I continue this in the future?

Thanks,
-hh

Noticed the shikke immediately. Excellent way to make the viewer feel the presence. The music felt a TAD muddy comparatively which is honestly just an issue about where you put the recorder relative to the monitors. This will work itself out as time goes but as far as continuing it: YES :)

Improvements would be to cut the bass completely from the stage recorder so there's no clash. Also, I'm not sure how MANY you had but one on each side of the stage panned left and right could be a really sick effect in the final mix. It'd give the viewer a gnarly stereo image of the entire stage with the main mix in the center channel.
Thanks big buy!

I saw FCB at Muqabla and I saw FCB at Burgh, and I must say in just one week you guys REALLY improved. That was a killer set! Your performance at Muqabla was also amazing (I was in shock when the placings were announced, you should have definitely won it), but there were a few mistakes here and there. But this performance at Burgh was simply amazing! Totally well deserved placing! Congratulations! :D

This set was so sick and the execution was amazing. A well deserved win no doubt.

Also shoutout to the young black and silver jodi, they were my personal favorites :)

The muddy-ness is in the entire feed. The sound engineer left the house mics on, so that fed into the main mix. I'm a step ahead of you, the stage recorder is crossed over @ 800 with a 24 db octave slope.

That was great, always enjoy seeing a team dance true to themselves. I think the best part about this was the fact that you guys improved your synchronization but didn't change up your style to do so. Respect!

Muqabla must've been delirious. Can't even begin to express how amazing this performance was live. Congrats, FCB, well deserved and extremely overdue. Can't wait to chill with you guys again next semester!

For most of you wondering FCB ripped it at mqb, but mqb, being the type of comp that it is, had a heavy 'theme' based judging rubric. Teams had to depict scenarios of good v evil in their routine and...FCB didn't have a theme at all lol.

So proud of you guys. Been a big supporter and a fan for a while, and I feel that I've gotten close to many of you guys after Pao & VIBC. One of the most raw, energetic performances I've ever seen in person. Congratulations - everything worked out for you guys - the energy, the crowd, the dancing, and your spirit.

Here's a video I took =)

Hands down the best set of the night. Wow. I can't believe how far FCB has come. You deserved this 1st place.

Harjot,

Video sounds awesome with the dubbing. I would look into multiple front stage mics to more accurately capture the juxtaposition of the mix and the dancing, but overall, I thought it was great. Really liked the thought behind it.

Thank you for the love so far everyone! I've watched our video a few times with the team, and we can express enough how grateful we were for the experience! Thank you again to the committee and especially Harjot and GTV for a beautiful video (with unparalleled sound!). I'm definitely looking forward to extra content from the weekend as well.

Here's a picture that definitely helps paint the scene of the night

keep the posts coming and check back for the MIX as well as additional videos from the weekend (social content and other angles)
