First Mix - Feedback?

Honestly, this is a good start for a first mix.

Positives: Song selection is on point. I dig that first song, it works really well. The intro with the vocals is sick. Also, your morni mix was pretty decent. I think you got the basics down, but I guess you will improve with experience.

Negatives: Effects! Too many hoi's going everywhere! Lol some vocals didn't fit as well. Also, the volume of vocals and effects with the songs is kinda off. And of course transitions. Just work on flow to make a smooth and clean transition to the next song.

Overall, it's good man, hope I helped a bit :D

My opinion isnt really going to benefit you because I am not an expert or anything...

But the point is I agree with everything the person above me said, even though I am not a bhangra expert or anything.

And my other opinion is just I loveeeee the songs :) Great choice and keep up the good work :D

The intro is not pitch matched correctly, tumbi is a different key. Also really liked your song selection, but your volumes are all over the place. For effects and to not have the sharp "cut off" sound you should round at your volumes towards the end.

Also really pay close attention to the wave forms, because you need to make sure the rhythms actually match. I'm not sure if you do this, but don't just take an acapella then cut it to fit the spot you need. You should beat map the acapella too, adjust the overall rhythm, then apply it where it needs to be put

You should worry less about layering tons and tons of things, and focus more on just a few layers that are well executed. A lot of muddled sound just sounds a bit cacophonous

I feel like there's too much going on at certain points, especially the beginning. I also thought the transitions from song to song were alright for the most part, except for the one from Look Lak to Moorni. That seemed a little awkward.

The song choices were a plus! I liked how 50 cent was in Look Lak. That was different, and I kind of liked it. Overall, not bad at all.

Does anyone know the name of the first song (starts at 0:35)?

I think you have great concept ideas, but the execution isn't fully there. The most noticeable thing is that your volumes/levels are all over the place. Your beatmapping is off in some places that are vocal heavy, so try to work on that. There's also too much going on at times, so maybe try to focus on doing two or three things well, instead of trying to force five things?

Overall though, great potential for your first mix.

My thoughts are in line with Jaskaran96 and Psant's feedback. +1 to both of what these guys said.

Overall, you need to work on adjusting your volume levels (if you search topics online about using a compression audio plugin/processor, that will help you greatly). It was annoying to hear a weak transition followed by a good song but with the vocal levels jacked up too high. An example of this is from 0:55-1:05.

While I liked your song selections, I didn't like how your mix "peaked" at all the wrong times. You should learn more about EQ (equalization) so that you can benefit from amplifying certain the frequency bands at various points throughout your mix.

I liked the concepts you had, but your execution needs to improve. As your very first mix though, this is a great step into the right direction! Keep it up man.

By the way, if you want A LOT of good feedback, you should consider joining the **BTF OFFICIAL MIXING LADDER**. It's an EXCELLENT place to display your talents and concepts to the BTF community. It should you help big time in figuring what is liked & non-liked and how to improve yourself as a mixer.

Sorry, had to advertise the mixing ladder, because we could sure use more activity!
