It might seem like nonsense but you'll see a huge improvement in how they sound. If you balance it out the bass actually hits harder because the mix is dynamic (our ears adjust to things really well so if the mix is dynamic it'll keep the bass fresh for us).

You don't have to do much, just put a limiter on the master and adjust the eq of individual tracks. Like keep the bass strong on your main bass track, pump the mids-highs on your melody tracks. It's not as much about the volumes of the tracks at that point. Like an extra 5 min of work with the EQ bands will make a huuge huuge difference, tons of google information out there.

Dude go tumbibeatbreaker with that algoza and just keep recording and producing over it that'd be so sick!

Was this album released prematurely? I noticed a lot of problem in addition to the delay in the intro that smp pointed out.

For example, is the 5th track "Bhangra - Saini Surinder - 187," the length of the track is 9:24, but there is no audio beyond 3:12.

I noticed the same issue in the 8th track "Chidi Shika - Harjeet Heera & Miss Surmani - Aman M" audio cuts off at around 3:28, but the total time of the track is 3:45.


What's up with that guys? I know you guys might have put a lot of work into this, but why wasn't stuff like this corrected before being released to the public? It's not like you guys had some deadline to meet.

It seems like you guys all gave your individually remixed tracked to one person who did a horrible job reviewing & packaging it all together.

Anyway, hope you guys can address these issues and correct them in your future releases. Great job on the actual mixes overall.

I know you have a lot of different mixers and pieces (remixes, mixtapes, team mixes, produced stuff)....but the songs are all over the place in terms of EQ and mastering (Jawani in particular feels so flat, part of it is the original but theres a lot of layered stuff that feel flat as well). Listen to the megamixes by Lil Sandhu and then Jasraj's stuff you'll see what I mean

There's extended empty spaces (before the folk beat and end of Surinder's Bhangra), just seemed rushed together and that there wasn't a final listen. Again, with this many contributors you can't keep it perfectly even (like with EQ) but someone should have noticed the empty spaces and cut it out or asked the DJ to fix it?

Jasraj, look into a good compressor/limiter all the mixes are just bass heavy but sound so muted/flat because of that. It's fine I guess for like a party where it's just loud and dancing. But just bumping it gets irritating after a while, at least for anyone who cares about more than bass.

the actual remixes are all over the place in quality, some are sweet but some are just a question mark. The megamixes are the highlight with the folk beat

Hey SWI...I never heard of ur name in any of the remix cds out in the market or on any threads or maybe i missed it...but atleast you can do is support the person for trying and i think these guys did a awesome job....let me see u release a cd and let see how many people take out ur mistakes....i understand u trying to tell them something u think will be nice....but come on now atlease like someones work...let see you release a cd in future or u are only capable of doing one track or something...if you cant appriciate anyone do say anything bad either.....no hard feeling but......Folk Yuh 2 awesome job guys......

Just curious, why is there a "now available on iTunes" tag on remix of Bhangra by Saini Surinder (its at 0:43 of the song)?

The mixes sound good on a pair of headphones, but the bass seems to take over everything when bumping it in the car. Overall, the are mixes in this edition are hit or miss.

It's a lot of work to put something like this together, so I give my respect to the DJ's on this album for doing work. That being said, as has been mentioned earlier, I think there are areas where the mixing can be improved, most notably the amount of bass (IMO).

Hope you guys release more mixes in the future.

this was there on folk yuh 1; i think you guys are just hitting "render project" in acid, without paying attention to how large the project actually is. if you start with a song at its original tempo or a slower tempo and later use beatmapper to speed it up, the length of that song's track shortens. therefore, what used to be an entirely full project space now has a ton of silence at the end. i ran into this problem, so i now just highlight the portion of the track that i need using the selector bar at the top and hit "render selection" to avoid this. if you guys keep the track the right length, it prevents us having to open the track in an editor and recompress it, thereby reducing its quality.
