BAD IDEA. Who on the team takes all the risks? Placing is never guaranteed no matter how good you are. (Bad judges can ruin it for you). It's not worth taking a hit on your credit score JUST for bhangra.

True dat Kinnell bhai. Who takes a loan out for BHANGRA? Come on, that's like taking a loan out to buy football gear. Nobody does that! In this day & age, the credit crisis is so bad that lending instutions hardly give college loans (eduation > bhangra) out as friviously as they once done. Don't even think about getting your bhangra team a loan to pay for a new set of vardiyan from Punjab or to fly your entire team to some competition that guarantees zero return.

I'm sorry pritpal, but that's like the worst fund raising idea of the century :p

I think the best way to make money for a team would be to go to some high end companies in your area and ask them to be the sponsors of your team. I know a few teams that have had Pepsi, Target, and local buisness sponser new outfits, jump suits, and flight costs in return they have the company logo on there clothes (inside the vardiyan) and the team commits to 5-6 preformances for the company events and/or they have to do community service events and represent that company....If you strike a deal with 3-4 companies and stay in good standing that can really help with costs :)

we usually try to raise money by selling our bhangra team t-shirts.
Another way to raise money is to perform at indian functions etc. A lot of weddings like to have bhangra teams perform and they pay pretty well too, or at places such as cultures shows.

spice up the sponsorship letter and tell em the comps ur going to w/wat theyre fundraising for.....not only do u do bhangra for a good cause but u compete for comps who do it for good causes
