Google is very good, but this is also a company that brings in roughly 20 billion dollars a year, not some random company running one website. There is no excuse for site failure from Google, they continually push themselves as enterprise-relevent, and foray into a bazillion fields (google wave is gonna be sweet). But part of that is the expectation that this gets taken care of quickly and with some amount of communication (and no twitter doesn't count)Underground Gabroo said:working in the IT industry myself, it frustrates me that people hold extremely high expectations for IT infrastructures... Truth of the matter is, outages like these are prone to any data network, and do happen... I agree and understand how much of an inconvinience this is, but please also keep in mind that this is nothing Google, or anything service provider for that matter, wish/plan for...
I remember years back when Blackberry suffered a similar outage panning across multiple days... Was it their fault? Well, it was cause of a system update they performed, however it was not planned for and people just went crazy... Once again, I understand the frustration of not having data services you are accustomed to using, but it is what it is...
Hang in there, Google is good about customer service and I'm confident is pushing all resources to get the problem fixed...
To build on this, if you ever have an issue with ANY site, including BTF, just check http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/Swi said:IF YOU EVER HAVE ANY GOOGLE ISSUES (gmail, calendar, docs, etc):

this is the first place to go. check if it's a service issue, or if it's your computer issue

I disagree... Regardless of how big or small a company may be, regardless of how much money they do or do not make, failures do happen and are a normal part of business/life... Your comparison is like saying that BMW vehicles should not fail or have any issues at all because they are a company that brings in X amount of billions per year, and push themselves to the threshold and foray into a bazillion fields...Swi said:Google is very good, but this is also a company that brings in roughly 20 billion dollars a year, not some random company running one website. I work in tech industry too. There may be explanations, but there are never excuses.
