Hi everybody, whaddup?? So I'm just little concerned about GBC, it sounds thin and long sustain and it rings quite a bit for sure because i'm using amb(mango) dhol. should i use remo or should i stay with gbc? my gbc isn't ripped for 2 years and it's high pitched(really). if you think there is something wrong with my gbc, let me know and i'll get it done.

if you said remo, what remo head should i use for best sutable for dhol. if you said gbc, i'm just wondering(curious)

thank you and have a great day :)

Can't give much advice, but lot's of people on here can help. to get you started, I suggest using the search function, GBC vs Remo has been discussed couple times:
http://bhangrateamsforum.com/discuss/main-bhangra-discussion/remo-or-gbc/
http://bhangrateamsforum.com/discuss/main-bhangra-discussion/dhol-customization-help/

http://bhangrateamsforum.com/discuss/main-bhangra-discussion/for-all-dholis-out-there!!!!!!!/

go through all posts, many times general dhol info is available even if the thread doesn't seem like it's pertinent

i personally love GBC heads more on my dhols than remo. ive used both ALOT. i got one dhol with a remo right and the rest have gbc's. If its way to ringy for your personal preference, all you really need to do it loosen the head a little bit. make sure you do so evenly. If its not ripped then you should worry about replacing it...just loosen it a bit.

if for any reason you want to change to remo just because you feel like it, the best remo heads suitable for dhols are the remo weatherking ambassador, the remo ebony ambassdor (if you want a black remo head), or a remo weatherking diplomat.

good luck!

And the remo tattoo skin!! even though the thickness is 13mm compared to ambassadors 10mm the tattoo skin sounds amazing even better than the ebony but almost like a clear ambassador but the ones mentioned are also very good

wait so do dholis use heads manufactured for regular drum sets, or do companies like remo and gbc make dhol-specific heads?

I think gbc is made just for dhol but can also be used on a drum set, and remo and evans are just for drum sets but are a good alternative if your gbc rips and you live in a really "Gora" part of canada or america, or if for some odd reason you live in the north of england.
