hey ya'll...so personally, i did not agree with the rankings for GCB...the judges were not sure of what they wanted, and in my opinion, under qualified...Pashi was probably the only appropriate judge...

honestly, nobody had a 1st place routine, id love to see hasde nachde...my quickie critiques

a) bankian naaran - such a derivative, uncreative, sloppy routine, there were so many times i just other teams' choreo...i understand they are trying to be hardcore traditional, but bring something new to the table, bring your own flavor to the steps...the girls' skill levels were all over the place as well, need to work on standardization...i had a hard time making it all the way through the video honestly

b) gabroo alliance - so sloppy, so many problems, dropped stunts, turla issues, chaadre issues, the uniforms are not good either, black should be banned from bhangra uniforms...people are talking about the live portion, and hyping it up, but it was so so sloppy, and the singer, while he is a good singer, is not a good bhangra singer...also, dont have your band on stage during the music portion if they are not gonna be doing anything, i couldn't tell from the vid if they were doing stuff or not during the music part

c) aeg - 6 people hurt you, and its been said before, the choreo is too complicated at times to keep clean on stage, it just looked super messy

d) bx - surprise team of the night, i remember watching your choreo vids while making your mix and being like, oh man, this team is bad bad bad haha, but you all cleaned it up nice for the performance...sloppy in parts, energy got low in parts as well, but enjoyable, probably should have placed at this competition

the way i see it, there is no way bn/gabroo alliance should have gotten first, bn for having such a standard routine, and ga for not being that good overall, but i guess my worst fears were realized at gotham: standard, decent, traditional teams, no matter how sloppy their execution, placed over less traditional, cleaner, more creative teams

I agree, this seemed to be one of those competitions where you really can't rank em. Ultimately, I think we can blame Gotham for their disorganization. MAD shouldn't have dropped out. I think they could have taken this.

A lot of bhangra teams could have taken this comp...

BN: Started off with a bang, but by the end was dragging noticeably. You could tell 4 min into the routine that they were tired, as some were crouching lower than others. Clear error in song choice as well (same back beat with choreo changes. Fast beats deserve fast choreo and vice versa) and transitions were lack luster. By 5:30 there was no clear sense of center stage and there were no gimmicks or creative elements to keep the audience interested. Color coordination would have been more memorable if formations had been tighter. Circle formation was overdone at the end and the prop section at the end seemed chaotic and without purpose. I liked previous routines by this team but this performance highlighted stamina problems and song choice above all else for me.

Bxb ? Ok performance. 4 x 4 formations left holes but the energy of the dancers covered up a lot. Some sloppy parts and choreo was a problem for a few dancers. Guy-girl segments were corny and should be shortened to keep audience attention, but the color scheme was decent. The slow portion at 4 min seemed out of place and forced and could easily be replaced with a song with a stronger jhummar beat. The section near five minutes was probably their weakest section, as it less and less resembled Bhangra and repeated old choreo. Refreshing creativity near 6 min that lightened the mood and was a good change of pace. After this the jumps near 6:09 were SICK, but reflected differing levels of energy onstage. Arms could be much more rigged for everyone and less flowy. Without a doubt, this team has a lot of potential and I think could do great things with 1.) More dancers and 2.) Clean formations near the end.

Gabroo Alliance: I agree with a lot of what Sulman said. The dancers reflected their own personal styles more than a consolidated team. When everyone came out with their props it seemed like the start of a high school Bhangra competition and I feel like they should have included this ?warm up? section while their singer was singing. In addition, the front people ended up putting so much energy into their moves that they looked sloppy and took away from the rest of the team, with one guy (2nd from the left) going absolutely crazy, not in a good way. The band should have also left stage after their portion to make formations easier, and I felt they got in the way of several dancers throughout the performance. With props this team NEEDS to crouch more and keep their bodies proud and still at times. They all lacked a certain sense of grace that comes with knowing how to control your body so the team is highlighted, and I think they would do much better if they put more emphasis on slower music and not on sheer entertainment value. Once the stunt failed near 8 min, you could see a spot where elegant choreowould have helped and it was hard to pay attention for the rest of the performance.

AEG: Good energy to begin! Arms had good synchronization and were at the same level for all the dancers. Saap section was too fast to be clean and the legs were sloppy. Another team that seemed to focus on entertainment more than making cohesive team movements. The formations were mediocre with 3 and 3 but they could have been pulled off with more grace at points. Also would have been more pleasing to the eye if the two people on the sides of the stage had left, as they were distracting from the dancers not in the middle. 4:55 brief part resembled more of a drunk bar than anything else and could have been so much better if they had crouched lower to the ground. Odd hand movements after 6 min?unsure what they were trying to convey. Pretty sweet spins get overshadowed by sloppy arms though, which is disappointing. Throughout the performance I wonder what could have been if they had 5 and 5 on stage or more and straighter form. Shortening the routine would have been nice too.

Would love to see what Hasde Nachde's routine looked like. None of the vids show a clear 1st place winner, as they all have their faults and areas for improvement. If I had to, I?d probably put
