I wasn't referring to Amridhari's using their Kirpans as weapons but rather, non-Amridhari's using the kirpan as a weapon.(such as a knife, k-bar, etc) Heard this from 2 kids this weekend who were from t-dot.
i agree, it can happen... hopefully this was not the case...

Show in England by Gurdas Maan and the ticket says "No Kirpans". So this is the 2nd time he has been involved in a controversy regarding Kirpans and his shows.

With 2 incidents it is hard for me to absolve Gurdas of all responsibility but like I said, I HOPE this is not on him but rather the venue/security being misinformed.
i highly doubt gurdas has anything to do with this... if anything, the promoter may have had issues in the past and put that on the ticket stub to avoid and trouble in the long run... if you look at the history of gurdas mann, you will see he holds sikhi and it's values very closely... i really really doubt he had anything to do with this at all...

I find it hard to believe that Gurdas Maan knows nothing about the bans or knew nothing. Stating no Kirpans on a tix stub and predicting what kind of media attention that would get, im sure he had a general idea of whats going on if not the exact details. Especially if theres already complaints after one show, and still keeping the ban in affect for another show.

Ignorance really isnt bliss.

gurdas mann, or any singer/performer for that matter usually doesn't get an entire 411 on the shows details... for example, at a bhangra competition, you don't get the nitty gritty as a performing team... for this reason, i dont think gurdas mann should be to blame but rather the venues where these shows are held...

My thoughts exactly. If his promoters are so ignorant as to put that on a ticket, dump them. That is, if you really care about the principles you stand behind and may be willing to take a hit financially. I hold Gurdas somewhat responsible for this. The first time? Maybe it was not on him. The 2nd time? Thats developing into a pattern.

couldnt have been said any better. Im sure Gurdas isnt completely oblivious as to whats going down at his concert. Fine...maybe he way not know the nitty gritty things that really dont concern him...but something like the kirpan not be allowed as per the ticket stub....thats something he cant just be oblivious to. But giving him the benefit of the doubt...going forward if this trend continues, we'll know who to blame.

I think the promoters did this as CYA kinda deal. Imagine if there HAD been a fight and someone HAD gotten hurt. Knowing the litigious society we live in, I'm sure there would have been lawsuits up the wazoo.
yes I just said wazoo.

i go to gurdas maan's show when ever he comes to toronto
there has never been an issue wid kirpans or anything
his shows are always great
gurdas maan is not responsible for anything
i think its just the promoters or other city officials

Wow, thats crazy. I've never seen anything like that before. I have to admit though, I was a bit shocked by Gurdas mann's reaction.

sh*t happens
buh i don't think its gurdas maans fault
its the promoters
if people were not allowed to bring kirpans into the show, they should have been notified before
and the people with the kirpans should not threaten others with there kirpans
cuzz then the government would ban them and not let people wear the
and that would start another big issue

gurdas did a show the next day in a open ground
theres was alot of people der

how do you expect gurdas to react though? he is in the middle of a show with hundreds (thousands?) of viewers looking at him... i think he did what he had to do... he told the crowd that he as a performer had no control over who was and was not admissable into the venue... he then, judging by the video, let one guy speak his mind freely about the issue... it's a sad thing to see, but i still don't feel that gurdas had anything to do with this... i truly dont... this is just my opinion though...

The video just proves that Gurdas Mann is and always has been a class act. Could you imagine the consequences of having him scream like the guy in the second video? I am not even sure why that dude is so pissed off cause he doesn't look like an Amritdhari Singh.

The only REAL Amritdharis I know (actually enchanted by meditations and spirituality) wouldn't really be interested in going to a venue hall for a concert...

Yea I guess your right. What else was gurdas Mann to do? He would have ruined his image had he said "let them in". It would have stirred controversy. He kept his composure and stayed professional.

they should have let that uncle in the second video gone face to face with one of those cops... once that cop beat the living shit outta him, that would have set the tone for the rest of the evening and the crowd would have dispersed... and that uncle was serious, when you got a punjabi uncle cursing in english, thats some anger right there... haha... kinda reminds me of Fusion 06 I think it was, one drunk punjabi dude went face to face with a 6'4-6'5 kallu cop, the punjabi dude was pretty big himself, the kallu dragged the dude with one arm and tossed him like a rag doll outside... The only way some of these morons learn a lesson is the hard way, sometimes I wish the cops had the power to just kick someones ass for being stupid...society would be such a better place and stupid shit like this wouldnt happen...

Yes, the world needs more police brutality and power hungry cops who think a blue uniform gives them the right to harass, assault and kill minorities.

nah, why does detroit get it all twisted? No wonder your state sucks, everyone has such a horrible outlook on life... A few cases here and there have gone a little hay wire, but a little show of force doesn't hurt... The way Indians roll, a little show of force by anyone is enough for our people to walk away with our tails tucked between our legs... This shit happens at every major indian event from coast to coast...

True, we all know Cali is in great shape right now economically and with the housing market. Yeah, your right man. WOOOO millitary state! WOOOOO police brutality! Lets keep these hooligans down because beating/killing a minority is great for race relations, allows for individuals to feel comfortable talking to the police, reporting crimes and cooperating with investigations!

Yes, the United States needs to adopt a policy of beating random individuals to show the population their strength and power and to make sure people don't act up. Yes, we Indians are so passive and scared that seeing someone assaulted will whip us into shape. Lets make "being stupid" illegal and punishable by the death penalty. Or wait, lets chop off someone's hand if they steal! That will teach them!
