okay, i just installed windows 7 onto my computer, right after restoring it, so i download windows live messenger, works fine for a couple of days, and after that it just stopped working, im not sure why, it keeps telling me that the server is not up and stuff...its weird like another thing is that it wont let you check the "save my password" and shiet like that its weird. Yes i have uninstalled and everything and tried a lot of shiet i even tried downloading it from different sites and shietttt

Try right clicking the install exe file and selecting "run as administrator."

What do you mean by "right after restoring it"?

The easiest thing would be to run system restore, which would return ur install to a previous time when it was functioning properly.

The best thing to do would be to re-install windows. It takes time, yes, to download all ur apps and stuff it's much worth it IMO. You should re-install windows every 9 -18 months anyways to keep it running clean.

It won't if you do it right.

Don't ever try to "upgrade" from vista cuz it's real hit and miss. Clean install....always.

i did re install windows, theres nothing wrong with the windows its just the messenger :S i tried running as admin and everything but i keep getting a message that says:

Signing in to windows live messenger failed because the service is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later."

WTF :| i re - downloaded messenger a billion times help me outttt!

really? I ditched aim like 4 years ago for windows cuz no one used aim anymore hahaha. It's not that bad but it is pretty bloated considering it takes up like 30MB of ram just idling.

well i mean idk what AIM is like these days. i got a mac so we have ichat and its so basic yet so powerful. and everyone/anyone i know uses it. windows messenger on mac is outdated by years they havnt updated it and theres jus so much EXTRA shit that isnt needed. ads/features/layout. simplicity is key which is why i advocate ichat.

aim lite is deprecated and no longer supported but I still use it and it's fantastic. One 30kb executable file and I'm set to chat and share files

or just get pidgin which is like trillian but better. Aim, gchat, windows messenger, office communicator...you name it

yeah brotha, we know the problem lies within ur computer somewhere. so either fresh reinstallation of messenger and if that doesnt work then reinstall windows again. if that doesnt work - get a mac.

If it is just windows messenger just install Trillian (an instant message program that connects you to all your IM accounts using one program) and try loggin in on that.

I've had that problem a couple times with Vista and a couple of times with Windows 7. For me it was a temporary issue, so I do think it is a server issue. I was searching into it the first time it happened and it was a temporary problem with your Windows Live ID. However it gets corrected on its own.
