The consistency you're seeing is not a result of some clandestine enlightened judging method or some top secret everyday household food that makes judges super capable.J Wong said:Yeah, because from what I have noticed they typically choose, in my opinion, the best live performance of the bunch fairly consistency and I was thinking maybe we could apply some of those practices here to have a little more consistency in judging.
That is true, similarity between sets creates fewer criterion to judge on. What I was getting at though was if they simply sit and talk about what they liked as opposed to points, maybe a competition here could try no points and simply deliberation.Sue Sylvester said:The consistency you're seeing is not a result of some clandestine enlightened judging method or some top secret everyday household food that makes judges super capable.J Wong said:Yeah, because from what I have noticed they typically choose, in my opinion, the best live performance of the bunch fairly consistency and I was thinking maybe we could apply some of those practices here to have a little more consistency in judging.
It's a result of the routines being relatively so much more similar to each other than routines you'll see at music competitions here in North America and thus being easier to judge. I'm not saying it's easy, but it is significantly easier to judge how a team performs when what they are performing is significantly more similar to their competition, in this case, live sets with 8 guys performing a formula with no gimmicks/outside the box creativity with a greater emphasis on performance rather than choreography. (I love live bhangra, but it is what it is.) Without these gimmicks, the judging results would sit better with the audience as well since gimmicks can be interpreted/enjoyed differently and the homogeneity of these performances results in the "consistency" you are seeing.
There's nothing more to it.
