Well I was reading another topic and it got me wondering: How do YOU personally define grace. People usually have differing (but somewhat similar) defintioins of what they see as graceful. What do you see as graceful in a jhoomer segment, kaato, shikka..ect ?

i think grace is the way your body flows when you do bhangra. Is it smooth? jittery? hesitant? Do you make it look easy? hows your body nakhra? Can you control your energy?

hope that helps

Ajit? from 3D, he has dardi...at boston 07 omg!

Grace in my words would be doing a step and having full control over your arms and legs, yet not dancing like a robot...doing a step going from point A to point B, A . . . . . . B and hitting all the spots instead of just doing A-B

When you bring your inner bhangra out, and show your true passion and love for the move your doing on stage. Not being such a stiff, nor a loose person on stage. Just being happy and letting your true emotions out ;) .. I can define grace in many ways ;D

I personally think that "Grace" as such bears no definition, but when you can involve the audience into your dance, that is where Grace actually starts from. Utmost practice and passion bring that in the dance. When you have practiced so much that you can dance the whole set 5 times in a stretch, then you can allow the music to flow through your mind and soul, and that is where Grace comes into play. Grace not only means executing the action, Grace actually means executing the action with the flow of the music, involving the spectators and justifying the music and the lyrics with your actions.

This is what i believe.. Rest, Art is not bound by words or actions.

what is lachak?

also, can someone elaborate on what nakhre/nakhra means? i dont know punjabi :(
meistro will have to help you on the first question. but nakhra in bhangra is the expressions of the body/face on stage. When you look like you are enjoying yourself, getting into it, interacting with audience, etc

grace is when you can allow your body to symbolize the music, it is on point with the music, it flows as the music, it's music in visual manifestation.

yeah, you gotta be That good :D

I believe Lachak means the movement of your body in a certain way that brings out the best of the move that you're doing and it feels so natural like the dancer is just chilling and its piece of cake? something along those lines hahah

Grace > pointless Energy
