Nice question and survey/poll Jordan.

I think it also depends at what point in life you're at and when the competition takes place. When I was in college, I didn't mind flying out to a competition. Especially when we had those long breaks - it was the perfect opportunity.

Now that I'm working and involved in other things outside of work, vacation time is a lot harder to come by.

Just food for thought,

I'd drop everything and just go if it was the right comp. One of the huge benefits of my job is that it's very travel-heavy, so it's somewhat simple for me to add on personal travel to get to a comp (that's how I got to BBC this year, WBBC last season and Bruin the year before that). It's been worth it every single time.

I feel like a lot of it, at least for college teams with a limited budget, depends on the cost of travel and amount of compensation we can get from our school/the competition. I recall Warrior covering a lot of expenses (like hotel rooms) for teams that come from out of town, which was really helpful and allowed us (CMU) to go for the past couple years.

The location itself makes a difference too. If a competition is close to home, it's nice to be able to have my family come and watch me perform.

In general, I'm down to travel far for a competition as long as it doesn't disturb everything else (school) too much and is reasonable cost-wise. But depending on the line-up, I'm down to make exceptions.
