How much do you think we contribute?

Hahah this is such a dumb topic but I was thinking about this the other day....How much do you think the bhangra circuit in North America contributes to the airline industry as well as the hotel/accomadations industry?

A fraction of a fraction of 1%.
When we have a competition and there are 10 (or 16 ;)) teams each booking lets say 3 hotel rooms (and I've seen an entire team fit in just one), thats 30 rooms. There are conventions where 700+ hotel rooms are booked for the convention.

When put in perspective, we're still a small and infrequent industry.

Before I answer this, let me just say....wow meistro...hahahhah...

its minimal bro...most of the official hotels booked for competitions are those that are already super conference/event heavy (renaissance center for fusion)...and compared to some of the other events and such that they host...the crowd that bhangra brings and the rooms they give out are relatively nothingg, which is why many hotels begin to re-evaluate whether hosting the comp is worth it after their first year (rooms get messed up, security situations, etc...)....Flights...same thing...although I'd think that with the huge slow down of people traveling...the teams' tickets have got to help, but not on a large scale.

Let me put it this way -- a high school field trip to Washington DC to learn about US government, the constitution, etc, will bring more revenue than your team flying in for Blowout. lol

I know that people fly at all hours and on everyday (the pop. in general), but maybe if you did a short-run analysis on airline ticket demand you would see a bump on days that teams bought their tickets for a comp. Long run of course its insignificant, but if you have 3 socal teams buying tix for Boston around the same time, you're gonna see an increase in the ticket price, even if its for a short time

Not really, it might increase the price 2 cents or something... An extra influx of 50 people flying on a certain day wont have that much of an impact considering that millions of people fly everyday... Now if the three teams flew on the same flight, then yea, tickets prices would probably go up for those who purchase tickets after the teams have purchased them only if the flight is full, otherwise I doubt ticket prices go up that much...

Bhangra doesnt account for anything at all for airlines and the hotels... I mean the profits they make off of people like us is miniscule when they look at their profit reports...

isn't that for just 1 team if they go to 10 comps?
thats alot lol only 1,080 for 1 team per comp

108,000*10 teams = 1,080,000
I think I did it right..so like 1mill spent on hotels??? thats a lot lol

Hospitality is about a $3.5 trillion industry globally. (1,080,000 / 3,500,000,000,000) x 100% = 0.00003%

hahaha thanks for your responses guys. I knew it wasnt much. Take a look at entertainment, or Sports! YOu have Football, Baseball, Basketball, Hockey.......you have 30+ teams per sport and you have about 50+ guys travelling per ogranization (players, coaches, front office, etc). You're playing 82 games (hockey, basketball) and 162 games in baseball.... haha yeahhhh. But yeah, considering how much we contribute to the industry, no matter the fraction of a percent, lets be proud! Not that we have to reach some sort of quota or something.
