i bought a brand new hp laptop a month ago and for the last week the built in speakers in the laptop have been acting up lately. The thing is that when i try listening to something, it will work for like a couple minutes and then the speakers will stop working, and when i dont use the laptop for a couple of hours, the speakers would work normally again.... Anybody noe what might be wrong with it?

??? It's new, therefore under warranty; why not just call HP.

yeah for the first year i believe, call em up and ask or e-mail em :)

you'll prolly have to send it in, or receive a brand new one ;)

you may be able to visit the retailer you purchased it from and exchange it... most retailers have good return/exchange policies during christmas time... most likely a bad sound card or speakers... plug in headphones and see if it does the same thing...

agreed trry the headphones first. then update the driver for the sound, as HP will ask you to do that and call them back. call HP, you must have at least 1-yr phone warranty.

I have a similar problem as well. heres the method i use to fix it. right click on the volume icon located in ur system try usually located in the bottom right hand corner of your screen. Go to playback devices and then right click on a blank spot underneath the digital out and select the display disabled devices. then disable speakers and dual headphones by rightclicking on it and selecting disable. then enable it and it should work. if not then i would suggest contacting HP as well.

alritee i appreciate all the advice guys, im gon try seeing if there are any updates, and ill definitely try your method rohit, (once my speakers stop working again) fortunately my speakers work normally again, jus dont noe how long it will keep working for :p, but in the meantime, im gon try to call up hp see wht they'll say and jus move on from there and just on a side note, i tried the headphone thing the first time it happened and no sound would come out, all i heard was a pop sound when i played the song and another pop sound when i stopped the song, pretty weird shyt if i say so myself :p .... anyways thanks again everyone nd Happy New Year ;D
