Hi BTF!
I am Ayesha Kar, the upcoming co-captain of Hurricane Bhangra along with Trusha Desai. Here are our two performances from the past year at Hilltop Hungama and Nach Ke Dikha. Please give us any feedback or suggestions that you have or PM me. As a more so up and coming team, we love any sort of thoughts on our performance from our fellow bhangra community.
Congratulations to the placing teams from each competition, we had a pleasure meeting y’all and hope to see you on the circuit next year!

I would love to thank all of our liaisons (Piyusha from Hilltop and Jahnavi from NKD) and board members for dealing with our crazy team all weekend. Thanks to Sangeen for making our mix and incorporating our vision for the set.
Of course, a huge shout out to our amazing captain from this year, Viggy Kumaresan, for working with all of us nonstop to dance to the best of our ability and leading us to our second place performance at Hilltop Hungama. Congratulations on an amazing season! And an ever bigger shout out to our extremely hard-working team, from driving to Aaj Ka Dhamaka in the middle of the night only to find out about the severity of Jonas to our last minute choreo and line-up changes, each and every one of you stepped it up and put your best on stage.

This has been the best that I have seen Hurricane Bhangra in recent years. Y'all form have improved so much since Fever 2015 where I saw you last. The energy has improved as well. My issue with this set was that I was not thoroughly impressed with the overall choreography of the set. I felt like the execution was there for the most part, but the choreography was not on par. Saap segment definitely could of been a lot more hype and was not a huge fan of the intro. When you guys compete against top caliber teams you need to have a stronger set that really sells your dancing. One without the other will usually equate to not placing at comps. But when taking everything into account and in comparison to the past this team has definitely improved this year. Congrats once again and I expect to see y'all compete a lot more next year.

Going off of the Hilltop video...dayyyum! The execution of your set was unbelievable! Definitely agree that this was the best I've seen you guys perform over the past few years.

I'll PM more in-depth suggestions/critiques, but just a couple things to start off with:

1) The set. I think y'all brought a set that you were comfortable with, and it was executed extremely well. You hit the parts of your set that you were supposed to, and you brought energy where it needed to be. The issue, however, is that those parts of the set that you highlighted didn't hit hard enough choreography-wise. Sure you all killed the steps and the set overall, but it was evident that you were hitting steps that you knew you would be able to do well. Maybe try to step out of your comfort zone for upcoming choreography. I would personally rather see innovative choreo that doesn't hit on stage rather than simple steps that you can do well. For example, the slow down/wind up into chaffa personally didn't hit for me, but I really appreciated seeing that over 16 beats of straight jugni/chaal, for example.

2) Shoulders/stiffness. This will come over time, but some of the dancers looked very stiff with their upper body. It'll go a long way if you can drill the idea of keeping shoulders loose while keeping your posture strong from day one. A lot of times, dancers either have prior dance experience that taught them to be tense with their upper body, or people just tend to forget to keep shoulders poppy. It really helped me learn shoulders when I was told to generate the poppy-ness from my legs, rather than to force my shoulders up and down!

3) This isn't a critique, but it has to be said. Y'all looked like you had more fun on stage than most other teams I saw this past year, and that was extremely fun for me to watch. I've seen a lot of teams on stage this past year get too caught up in what angles to hit and where exactly they need to be, and it becomes evident when they perform. I can tell from watching that you had an awesome time on stage at Hilltop, and I hope you guys carry that forward for future years.

Really hoping I run into you guys in the future!

Hi! A little late given you posted this 7 months ago haha but I was looking for random videos to watch (and practice using a rubric for an upcoming comp). I thought watching Hurricane would be fun, and I was right :)

Here are some comments I have that might be useful as you get ready for the upcoming season:

- Be careful not to dance flat footed. You guys have good posture, you pick your legs up high, extend your arms, and dance big. However some dancers look a little heavy which typically means they need to dance more on the ball of the foot (gives you the bounce). Even on moves like
- Example is yellow girl at 6:53-7:02, see how she is just slightly off? I'm almost positive it's due to dancing flat-footed so keep an eye on that. (Great job yellow girl, I'm just tryna to get that extra bounce in ya!)
- Example: Whole team at 2:37 move (the modified punjab move); on this move try to slightly squat into it using your thigh and butt muscles, versus putting the weight down into your foot. (Let me know if this doesn't make sense) It'll look a little better and be easier to execute
- Both of your jhummar songs had a pop sound and lacked any dhol for you to follow. This made you look slightly awkward especially on the second song (I tried dancing on your songs myself and it was difficult) . I suggest having your mixer incorporate a jhummar dhol beat and/or picking different songs, ones with a more clear beat you can follow.
- Second jhummar song and choreo weren't working together. You use a lot of moves I consider soft moves, and yeah you execute them in a big strong way but it still doesn't make them hard hitting like the song is. I recommend changing the song because the choreo was nice (simple but nice)
- Transition from jugni into fast bhangra song was rough and sudden

+ Energy level was awesome and very consistent
+ Super clean smooth transition from putting down shykkey into the first freehand song
+ Well done dhamaal segment
+ Wow blue front flip girl nailed it!! I wasn't impressed by the fact she did a flip, but the fact she hit the betik and went right into charkha was impressive!
+ Formation movement at 7:02 into 2 diagonals was sick

Hope this helps and good luck!!
