I want to join a bhangra team or garba team (indian dance teams),but all the people on the teams are really close and get drunk and do hookah all the time. the girls seem to be really high maintanence and I don't know if I'd get along with the crowd because I'm really laid back and somewhat quiet... I really like bhangra and garba dancing however, and i want to learn it. Initiative Q NUTRA THRIVE Noom Diet Plan

I mean... if you're really interested in learning bhangra, I'm sure they would be happy to teach you. You don't necessarily have to hangout with them all the time, no obligation to but I'm sure not everyone on the team does all of what you say all the time. Where are these teams and what made you interested in dance?

I think you may be characterizing all bhangra & garba team members too quickly. There is no requirement to hang out with everyone (or that you have to get along with everyone) on the team. Heck, you don't even have to join the team - just ask the captain(s) of each team if you can come to practices because you just want exposure and wish to learn the fundamentals.

Which area are you located in? We may be able to provide resources to you outside of just the bhangra team who can help you learn.

All the best,

~ Basim :)

Bhangra really doesn't really clash with personalities of the members on the team in any case. A lot of bhangra teams I know are happy to teach new people who wish to join bhangra teams like you. Some of them actually provide classes depending on your experience of bhangra and then you can be moved up into the main roster of the team. You really shouldn't have to worry about people not liking you because bhangra is a world of love and accepts people of all colors, personalities, and so many other things.
