kinnell thats pretty creative..we should make two versions one with regular clothes and you have to work for stats and another with the special magical clothes and stuff like you mentioned
Hahaha I was spoofing on WOW (World of Warcraft) with WOB (World of Bhangra). That game was so addicting for the first 3 weeks I played it and then I got bored like no other.

I thought these ideas were simply speculations, but it seems you guys are really intent on making it. The easiest thing I have used to make games in terms of design and programming has been Flash. You can do a lot of amazing stuff with that and it definitely beats the crazy GUI stuff you need to do for Java.

So I was scribbling around numbers in class adding details I was looking at for something along the lines of a fantasy meets online gameplay crossover idea. It most def would work, but a lot of data compilation will be needed and for that I will need the members of BTF's support. Because I would need a recent video and possibly roster of a team that would like to be involved inside the game and possibly any competitions that wouldn't mind having their name in the game. Unfortuantely I can't get users to manage existing teams because the data needed for that far surpasses the amount I would need to make the project I plan on now. Also that would become almost Football Manager type game where 100's of pages of coding would be required and yeh i don't think thats going to happen on my part. Also the game I plan will restart every 2mths or so allowing changes to be made and more people to hop on and give it a try.
I would say I'm looking at maybe doing a beta test within the time Jan-March, somewhere there. A handful will be selected for this to test out any flaws and the potential of the game because if it sucks I will scratch the idea (N)
Sounds awesome Rohit. Are you planning to use Java or C++ to code this game? Also, could you please expand on this idea of "fantasy meets online gameplay crossover idea." I would love to test for glitches and all when the time roles around. Look foward to seeing & hearing about the progress bro.

Not too sure yet what language Imma be using. As of right now Im outlining what I want in the game and how I need to go about doing it. Once I have that coding will be a lot easier since I'll have all the numbers.
And by crossover i mean in a fantasy league you assemble your team and watch it grow while u make trades and all and thats about it. Your one and only responsibility is picking the team. But with the added crossover I'm taking the concept of text-based real-time strategy games and applying it to the fantasy world. So you'll be able to enter comps, buy uniforms, learn new moves, build your own routine, and all this done in real-time meaning there will be deadlines just like in fantasy.

It's a cool idea and all, but personally, I would not enjoy playing a bhangra video game unless it was like Wii, where you actually get to do the moves yourself. Additionally, aspects like facial expressions, grace, and nakhra (which have great visual appeal in real bhangra) would be difficult to capture in a video game.

Rohit, don't let my comments stop you. I still support what you're trying to do!

From one programmer to another and I'm sure you already know this: It's going to be hella crazy and hella load of work. Simple stuff as buying uniforms, upgrading uniforms when you win competitions and get more money, buying props, entering competitions, learning new moves from a coach shouldn't be bad. But building your own routines in a certain order and then having some sort of function that assigns a value which says that one order is better than the other. (If all orders are equal, what's the point of having them at all?). Then you compete against other teams (whether computer or other player) and you have to configure some sort of function that says essentially "sums" up these values in order. Hella complicated, right. Though I'm sure you have your own method on how equating the order of moves in a routine with success against other teams because it cannot be random.

Best of Luck dude.

I would say probably one of the easier things to do is more of Bhangra DDR type game and then you add whatever other features you want into it.

Yeh I took all that into account, with the routines, you'll be judged based on creativity, and again you gotta stay within time limit, so its also letting u adjust your routines, not only that, it effects your performers stamina and all. The game will be VERY complex but with an easy to use interface. Theres a lot of strategy and probability to it b/c i didn't want it to be boring and predictable. Also I wanted to give the user more freedom and more depth into managing their own team. Would give a lot of excitement and knowledge and ofcourse I could make changes to the game as I see fit.

with the new technology that is coming out, you could potentially use a version of the wii or similar technologies (theres one for computer too) to track a virtual reality sort of bhangra. like doing the moves in the proper fashion, hand motions, get bonus points for using different styles, height differentials, etc

DDR:Bhangra + sensors on fingertips = full 3d judging 8)

jus a thought

Lol lets not get carried away here guys. Making an almost virtual game (motion sensitive game) is no joke. Im not spending big bucks here to develop a game that uses coding I don't even know yet. Right now I am suggesting a text-based game which would be a first of its kind specialized for our community which will be an advancement on its own. Maybe once I'm done my degree and I am working for a gaming/software company (to build up my MBA experience) I can present the idea and see how it turns.
