the dastaar is a symbol of sikhism, dont see the purpose of using it in his logo, like i stated before it seems like a half assed attempt to show that you're edgy and represent punjabiness.
.. this brand seems to be geared towards punjabi kids who try to be black/ghetto/thug, there are plenty of tools like that around, and it's kinda funny how they try so hard to seem relevant and to be taken seriously, i'm sure this clothing line will help them on that endeavor  .

lol, let me get at you - two parts brah and im good.

1. i respect your opinion an strong feeling toward a Dastaar - I know you werent born 1942, so leave all that grownman talk alone. You already said you werent messin with the line(got that) you already said you werent vibin with the logo (got that) so why you still here homie?

a lot of companies remix certain things and they hold different meanings to em. i didnt do it for approval - check out OFWGKTA & Krew clothing they both flipped and remixed the cross. To each his own, but the point is these were met in open arms by fans (an its expected to have backlash, but no one person tripped off of that - to the extant youve been ranting.)

2. Lastly, its not kool to talk down on indian kids who like Urban Hip hop that especially comin from a guy rockin a Throwback Myspace 'Gym' picture for a profile lol. Be kool, relax bruh this is a forum, you dont gotta mess with it but keep an open mind or turn the cheek homes - this isnt spoon feed to you (i hope u dont use hip hop in your mixes after you talked all this mess about urban youth and tryina be 'black' ghetto.)

and one last time - the homage comes thru name and STOPS there. the rest of it is ART and has no reflection on our heritage, people or where we come from. i dont care how extreme or simple it appears to you. Dont like it go find you a picasso.

Real recognize real Brah. i want nothin more than to put the Punjabi name on a different platform - im just not as critical about it. If is see a white converted sikh im not gonna tare him down because he doesnt cover his head, or grow a beard - ill fist bump homie, and welcome the fact that dude has embraced a culture, our culture. Guys like you turn the youth away from our culture - too many rules, too many guidelines, do it this way - dont do that. (its tired an old, you can figure out a way to involve the youth or kick rocks).

and to the homie in D-town. No spin, i put that on my word. No covering anything up - I actually got some customers from Detroit - big ups to the 'D'. I will say - i didnt think the environment in a Off topic thread would amount to this but it was purely shits an giggles lol, just clowin. and i will agree to disagree - postin up in here helped, unless i took that risk an put myself out there i would never know how the art is perceived.

I appreciate the love and support, emails and the Private messages (nothin wrong with tryin somethin new and creating your own lane). People like you guys give me hope an bring excitement to shows now a days with new insight and direction and some of your Ideas are SICK and will change the game up - thats a Good Look, hat tip to ya'll.

but anyways - i still feel the same. BTF's got some good people on here, you can try to make somethin out of this or just leave the pieces on the ground and walk away - ill be back around after summer ;) enough of this noise its more boring now than fun - Its almost the weekend - Get it.

Peace & love, Stay One Hundred.

I don’t see what being born in 1942 has to do with anything and what you’re referring to as “grownman talk.” The fact is you’re the one who seems clueless as to what being a sardar is all about. Wearing a pagg is about showing respect for Sikhism and having pride in your heritage, 1 of the things I really like about the bhangra community is the fact that everyone, no matter what their background respects dastaars and their significance in punjabi culture, whether it’s a traditional pagg or a bhangra pagg. That pride is even stronger today because of all the crap Punjabis have had to deal with over the last 10 yrs due to racism and prejudice in the wake of 9/11, it’s an important symbol in the community, if you wanna use it in art work go for it just use it in a respectful way instead of making something trashy. I’m still here because I can be, do something about it.

“throwback myspace gym picture” I’m glad u like it, I’m sorry I only have about 10 pics of myself online, maybe you’ll like my new one better lol freakin tool. I got no prob with kids listenin to rap, I’ve listened to everythin from tupac to q-tip to rza to odb to chino xl, I also listen to rock and metal, but I don’t go around actin black callin everyone “n*gg*”, that’s what I have an issue with. Scratch that I don’t have an issue with it, I just find it hilarious. It seems pretty stupid to try to claim to represent Punjabi culture when you look and act like you came out of Compton. It’s kinda cute that you think you’re a legitimate artist, whatever helps you sleep at night buddy. “real recognize real brah” lol you sound very intelligent “brah” really “brah.” Respecting Sikhism or being sikh doesn’t have anything to do with covering your head, wearing a dastaar, or growing a beard is a way of showing devotion and dedication to Sikhism. There’s a huge separation between Sikhism and Punjabi culture, if you took the time to learn about it you’d realize that, theres a gurudwara in MA run by white Sikhs, they don’t try to be Punjabi, they’re just Sikhs. Inversely you don’t have to be sikh to be Punjabi, guys like me don’t turn the youth away from anything, if you want to represent Sikhism, do it respectfully, if you want to represent Punjabi culture, do it the right way, otherwise your just a fake ass punk.

sweet trimmed dhari brah.
ya i do trim my beard, i don't claim to be a perfect or even close to perfect sikh, i don't even do paat much anymore, and i generally only wear a pagg to gurudwara or formal events. none of that changes the fact that i respect the religion because of all the sacrifices that have been made for it, i may not be very religious but i can't ignore what the gurus and the guru garanth sahib stand for. i fully respect anyone who is devout sikh, i just can't see myself making that sort of commitment. i'm glad u like my facial hair though.

There is no such thing as "acting black". That may be the most ignorant thing said in this thread.

I see a huge problem with that. It shows a level of ignorance and bigotry if someone who is not black uses that word. But your assertion that you can "act black" presupposes black people are a monolith. That is a really harmful mentality to have. You may be shocked, but a lot of black people do not use the N word.

i meant it in cultural terms as in punjabi kids assosciating themselves with urban black culture, unless you can somehow fully emulate and integrate yourself fully into that culture, i'd label it as acting or just trying really hard. i have nothing against urban black culture.

lol i'll finish it off with a final statement, everyone in here would be up in arms if someone disrespected a pagg on stage during a performance. more recently everyone universally seemed to take it very seriously when the video of a sardar getting his pagg taken off was posted. dastaar/pagg represents, pride, tradition, and honor, it is a symbol of sikhism; i'm disappointed more people aren't taking offense. but hey if you all wanna give people liberties don't whine when they end up sh*tting on ur lawn.
