The vast majority of the world is misinformed about homosexuality. Keep in mind, sodomy as b/w homosexuals is still illegal in China, all of the middle east, africa, latin america. It's actually illegal in most american states too (though rarely enforced due to constitutional protections of privacy). The idea that is a disease is pervasive in most of the world. The West stands alone in its widespread acceptance of homosexuality. But being ignorant and being against it are two different issues. It's the ignorance thing that really gets me. Also, this guy's a Muslim, he's probably not about to say anything else. But, he held public office, and should have kept his ignorance to himself. This isn't going away for a long time, if ever, and won't become the minority view. The bottom line is this: homosexuality is adjudged by the major world religions (probably not hinduism though because of its gray areas on this subject) to be wrong, and as long as people are religious, it won't be accepted. But, again, that doesn't mean that religious people should be ignorant or that non-religious people should be ignorant. This man is ignorant.
