Sat Sri Akal to all..

It was not very pleasing reading all about the CWG, Delhi 2010 here. But, in actual, all of my Friends who are posting negative stuff, probably are just choking their eyes and minds listening to News Channels of things that no one even in India knows about probably. Like "We never knew that the foot-bridge that collapsed was made by Army people".

Also, I would like to throw some light on the misconduct of the otherwise considered to be well-mannered, bloody western cultured people of Australia who threw a washing machine off the 8th floor in the CW Games village, without giving a second thought that anybody could be hurt. Even then, we Indians were polite enough to let them go and not register a case against them. You know why ?? "Atithi Devo Bhavaah".. If you know, what is this, well enough, if not, consult someone who knows of it and try to implement in your life. It will surely help.

Alongwith the wrong words and anger, some of us are shedding for India, kindly have a look to some of the following links too :

If still, it doesn't get below your throats, God help you.

Take Care. No offences. I just don't like people shouting at my country. If you can't praise us, kindly don't say wrong about us. You are not a part of it. If you would have been, you would have done something to make things better.

And all the praise in the world to "Navi Sandhu". She had the guts to defend her country and show the better side of it. Even America has got flaws, its just that we don't get into such cheap things of pin-pointing anyone's flaws. We believe in helping in eradicating them. Thats why Indians are a major part of every Big Thing in the world. Let it be Research, Development, Science or Innovation.

If you feel proud, say it loud. If you don't, don't say wrong words, because its good to see only dogs bark. It doesn't suit humans.
Not speaking about the actual games because I did not pay enough attention to them to have an opinion one way or the other- but saying a person should only praise India or not say anything is so counterproductive and irrational. Blind nationalism and complete faith in a nation, any nation, is the cause of so much of the world's ills.
People should feel free to criticize and assess every aspect of a country, and India has a whole lot to be criticized. From the treatment of women, to drug use, to classism, to racism, to corruption, to human rights abuses, we would be doing India a disservice if we did not voice the wrongs it is doing.

Veere u r right that blind nationalism is bad. Criticism is a must for any country to look at the actual picture. But I feel that it is also not good to listen to people saying wrong about your country when they are just having fun saying all that and on the contrary, they proudly say that "We are Americans" or etc etc.. This is what the British did when they ruled India. And we are over with it. No more shit about our country. We know how to resolve our matters. We have evolved as a nation and corrected many many things in the process and the things that still trouble the society, will surely be corrected. Many processes and procedures are on and many people with a good Will are up to it. So no need of another bloody foreign hand to let us know of our faults. Nobody knew what was the proposed and the actual expenditure for the Games, or what all went wrong during the preparations, until we ourselves let the world know of it. We ourselves exposed our flaws, as a Nation. So, we have enough critics within ourselves only to deal with things. We kindly don't need foreign blames and criticism. If India is so bad, why did the British stay here for centuries and looted it ? What the hell made them become thieves and steal precious ornaments and gems out of India before leaving. And here's one more critic my Friend, it is we Indians only, who are still having a worm in our brains that the Western world is better than us. This was the sole purpose of the British to embed this thought in the minds of Indians, and we Indians proved weak enough to carry that thought even more than 60 years of Independence.

Baki Veere, you are right on your point to some extent. Bhagat Singh ji di photo layi hai tusi. Changa lagya dekh ke. But, Shaheed Bhagat Singh would surely have never loved hearing wrong about his nation from someone else's mouth. He died for a noble cause of seeing a better India and for that, even after giving the best brains of our country to foreign lands for the development of the world as a whole, we still have enough with us in the country who have the guts to take Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh's dream to a reality.

Pehlaan lutya goriaan nee tee hun lutte sarkar...

I don't know enough about what happened at the commonwealth games to comment on it but Varun Bhaji in order to have the guts to make Bhagat Singh's dream a reality, one needs to have the guts to listen to VALID criticisms. I don't think that its a good idea to turn this into us vs the world thing because no one here is running for election. It is important to hear criticisms so that they can be addressed. You said that many people with good Will are working on resolving issues India faces. Those people aren't dropping from the sky or being manufactured in a factory....they are by product of criticisms and issues the society faces. Whether those criticisms come domestically or internationally, it doesn't matter. If Bhagat Singh was alive today, I would hope that he could look beyond the fake sense of nationalism that Harman mentioned and embrace these criticisms so that India could continue to move forward.

Sat Sri Akal Veere.. As I said earlier, criticism is welcome but not in this form. People here said many wrong things which could not be tolerated. And even Shaheed Bhagat Singh would have not acknowledged something like this I believe. Rest its not about He would have or would have not. Its just not blind nationalism. As you said Veere, ki the critiques are not made up in factories, so that is what my point was, that we have enough amongst us who can be good critics and do the needful. We would not acknowledge foreign people saying all that stuff. Its more than enough. Thanks to all those who did, but no more. This is what Foreign media did during the CWG Games, alongwith the Indian media too : they just criticised, and now, they are praising the organising of the Games. Rest, about corruption n all that stuff, it is being taken care of, if you would be reading news about India. Thankyou for your valid points, but my point was only that we would not acknowledge people speaking without any control over their thoughts, about my country, just because we don't respond much.

Wow, these games are NOT a shame. It's a SHAME that as Indians we aren't focusing on the successes of these games but on all its negativities. Instead of defending our country to the world, Indians are basically selling it as a gutter - and this is mainly due to the Indian media, the creator of propaganda.

It's understood that a week ago, all the preparations might not have been complete, but the fact they have been and the games are actually occurring with most of the nations attending is a huge success in and off itself.

India is clearly not a westernized developed nation - we are a developing country, an emerging market. The fact that we as a country have built a metro system, completed huge stadiums, have switched to CNG buses and built housing for 3,000 athletes is a HUGE accomplishment. This infrastructure is what leads to bigger and better things.

Each major sporting event has its own chaoses - In the Chinese Olympics a man was stabbed to death, tragedies at most world cups, etc. Understood many people from westernized countries are not able to handle the atmosphere and environment of a nation like India, but how is that India's fault? India is not a South Africa who hides its poverty behind enclosed camps so that a certain group of people can live in luxury.

It's so sad that this topic was posted with such a negative light....unbelievable...
LOL....what are you talking about? That's the same kind of nonsense, political party propaganda fake sense of nationalism that is the main drives of all the bullshit that is going on. India wants to play on the same field as the big boys, but can't step up to the plate. Why should they be held to a lower standard just because they are "developing." So is Brazil, so is China, and they're developing 10x faster in a much more organized and economically prosperous way. Infrastructure is just horrible everywhere in India, because they just haven't taken the time to conduct proper infrastructure planning and there's way too many corrupt politicians and construction companies that just sit on their asses. The same guys who are running this competition are a part of that corrupt system. If you do not criticize your nation, your nation will never change. China has something to be proud about for the Olympics, South Africa has something to be proud about for the World cup, for India...the CWG is a wake up call....you suck, get your shit together, or the world will continue to consider you as a dump hole with snakes and falling bridges.

Yes every major event has its own issues, but there is clear evidence and support here to show how poorly this was all done from start to finish and how corrupt the system is. And how can you say that the players are enjoying it when half of them are sick and most of the best competitors aren't even playing because the conditions are so horrible. We all love India, but things have to change there, and this is a clear cut example of India taking something on that they just weren't ready for yet. You know that they are still building the Bridge in Mumbai for the last 20 years....still hasn't been finished...China builds 5 of those bridges of same size and scope in 2 years. We're just so far behind on infrastructure development its sad.

The people who are pushing the country forward are the intelligent business men who are thinking on an international level....the Tatas, the Reliances, etc....who are taking the scope of economics and business and finance, and pushing it forward. The head of Sun microsystems just took the first micro-finance corporation public and is making like $20 million from it every year....while still helping the community. Thats whats going to push this country forward. Government and politics are in FTL.

Whether you admit it or not, this will go down as a big disgrace for India...and zthey'll have to take great measures and take this is a wake up call to get their sht together.

Well said. (Y)
