Kind of a hit(infamous/famous whatever) blog entry I came around today. I am unsure if many of you(i.e. those who don't reside in India) will be able to relate to this stuff but the moment i read this, the "why brown girls like white guys" video popped into my mind

Do the same kind of views exist out there in America/Canada too? One state against other eh? :-\

skimmed it, didn't find it interesting, lots of racism, sexism, and ignorance. whoever wrote it needs to deal with their superiority complex, the whole blog just comes off as immature bitching.

I agree there was a lot of racism, sexism and ignorance involved on the part of the author..The author did go too far with the hate filled bits and insulted a whole set of sensibilities in the process. But what stood out to me was, what it took for the blog to get noticed, that very talk of racism, sexism etc(as i understood from the few comments I read) did make it popular. People are bitching at each other in the comments section lol(more than 2500 comments  ) . But the blog still touches upon many issues...even if it might have involved stereotyping on the basis of just a few people - The usual South Vs North India stuff - which can even be generalized as being among people from one shade/hue of color vs other, the objectification of women etc etc , all of which can again be universalized.

This to me just felt like that "why brown girls like white guys" vid... The difference being Lilly(Superwoman) just did it in a more funny way but here Shahana(The author) was just venting out her frustration(i guess), hatred etc... The reactions to both were still the same..(Not as overheated in Superwoman's case though :D ).. And I am more bent towards the opinion that Everyone can't fall under the same stereotype... The only stereotype I think that everyone of us can fit in, is only that of being a human (I hope :p )

Here's one of the interesting reply blogs :)

Its clearly meant to be funny, and I wouldn't take it as a serious insult. In my experience, North Indians indeed have ridiculously stupid stereotypes about South Indians. The blogger does bring up some serious problems that the North faces, that the South has made progress with in powerful ways: education, and the uplifting fo the status of women in realms from jobs to education to freedom from rape to sex-selective abortion. What is shitty is that she singles out Sikhs in particular.
