hey im trying to jailbreak my 3gs using redsn0w but I cant find a copy of my firmware online that works. I have the new 4.3.3 firmware but when I try and download it, it shows up as a bunch of .dmg files and when I change the file type to .ipsw it stil doesnt work. Just wondering if anyone knows what I am doing wrong. thanks.

Hey I saw that but I'm actually trying to unlock my phone as well and I need to use redsn0w for thar which is what I am having problems with. If anyone has done it could you tell me how.

redsn0w is a dmg file...dont change teh file type to .ipsw just open redsn0w close itunes and i assume u have a mac since ur downloading a .dmg file? close ituneshelper from activity monitor as well.

then in redsn0w choose the firmware u already have on it then click yes its the new (fixed) 3gs
then select install ipad baseband and jailbreak and follow the steps on the screen.

if u need any more details let me know
also when u restore make sure u have an at&t (if in the US) sim or w/e the phone is originally locked to.

redsn0w is working fine its just that when I try to upload the firmware to redsn0w it doesnt work because all the firmware files are .dmg so then I tried to rename the files and change them to .ipsw and it still didnt work.

.dmg is a mac file, not a ipod firmware......did you download the right file? download ipod/iphone firmwares from [SIZE=small]www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/[/SIZE]

yea i got it from that site also, when you dload the firmware 4.3.3 its a bunch of .dmg files. I dont know why.

I have never seen the firmware download as a dmg file especially from that site??? What firmware are u on already??

nvm i got it to work but I had to download the firmware from a torrent site. The firmware from that link is fucked though. its 4.3.3 and I tried downloading it like 5 times and it was .dmg files everytime.

hey guys i just tried updating my iphone 3gs to the new 4.3.5 firmware and i think i bricked it. i keep getting error 1015. i went to the apple store and like always those fuckin bastards were no help at all. they basically told me that 4.3.5 firmware purposely fucked my phone up because it was jail broken. any ideas on what i should do?

what screen are u stuck at? is it an AT&T phone? do u have t-mobile?
