Jailbreaking does nothing physical to the phone so if you factory reset it (or restore it from a non-jailbroken backup), apple cant tell.

Apple just publicly says they don't approve of jailbreaking for ATTs sake...you know they love it...Steve Wozniak is a huge part of the jail break community (granted he's not with Apple anymore...but still)

i agree, i dont think apple is too concerned with people exploring the iphones capability... however, you must note that many of the decisions they make pertain to their exclusive contract with provider att... and, coming from att's shoes, though some decisions they make are stupid, i can understand why...

what most people don't know? att helped develop the iphone in partnership with apple, and spent over 1.5 milion of their own dollars investing in the development process... as far as jailbreaking is concerned, rumor has it that apple is working on developing ways to detect software hacking, as well as the "health" of the iphone... for example, if the phone has been dropped, how many times has it been dropped, has the case been opened, etc etc... with the amount of people hacking/breaking/obtaining new phones, apple really has no choice...

p.s. jailbeaking is good but greatly affects the performance of the phone...

Specifically does anyone use the slingplayer app? I sling a lot, but just wondering how well it works over a cell network...
the sling app, for the most part, works just fine over att's network... depending on your area, you can get a consistent 2 megabit downstream connection which is far more than enough to support good quality video... problem is that certain metropolitan areas suffer bandwidth wise due to high number of users and not enough backbone support etc etc... definately a good app but definately NOT worth the 39.99 they charge for the actual application...
