jailbreaking 3.1 for iphone

hey guys, i just bought myself a shiny new iphone 3gs and was wanting to jailbreak it, however having read up a lot and watched many different videos its still not clear to me if its even possible. I'm one of the unfortunate few that has got an iphone that came on 3.1 as standard. A lot of people are saying you can't even downgrade to 3.0 anymore to jailbreak that first and then upgrade and jailbreak 3.1. I know there's plenty of techy people on here that know a lot more than i do so i'd appreciate any help or advice.

hey thanks for that saleem but it wasn't completely what i was looking for, however i did find what i needed and i thought id share it with those people who may need it in future.

this is for people on windows machines who have just bought brand new iphone 3gs's from the store, easiest damn jailbreak process ever! follow the simple instructions and you'll be done in a minute flat, just make sure you get rid of itunes helper from your processes.

hey i have accidentally updated my iphone to 3.1.3 baseband 5.12.01 is there any way i can unlock it or downgrade it still
I happen to jailbreak it but couldn't find anyway to unlock it

Have your tried any online unlocking service?
