Terrorism is defined as unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or political reasons. With that definition, a lot can be called terrorism. But in the post 9/11 world, the definition of terrorism has been skewed greatly to become synonymous with Islam and brown skin. If you actually look at what terrorism is, the United States government supported terrorism time and time again, but no one wants you to suggest that.

Udham Singh WAS promoting an ideology by violence- Justice. If the British were not going to give those innocent men, women and children who died in the Jallianwala Bagh massacre justice, I thank Udham Singh for giving it to them. You can label him what you want, but I label him a hero for willingly giving his life up so that the people from his land could finally feel some sort of justice and peace that was not and should have been given to them by the powers that be.

I'm probably going to get chewed out for this, but oh well. I believe that the justice that Shaheed Udham Singh served for those who died at Jallianwala Bagh can be compared to the "terrorists" in the 9/11 attacks. The "terrorists" did justice for their people. It was definately shocking to see the airplanes crash into those buildings. Sure, its sad to see many americans die like that. But, america has been lucky enough that it has only been majorly attacked twice by another foreign country, considering all of the atrocities they commit in other countries. 9/11 happens every single day in palestine or iraq among other countries, yet we don't shed a single tear for those people. We get the opposite. One or two troops go down, and a they're all over the news. How about the civilians dying in the masses at the hands of American soldiers? Is Bin Laden really a terrorist? Or is he doing what he's been doing with the same intentions that Bhagat Singh and Udham Singh had? Think about that. I myself am still looking for an answer. I think the media has done too much in influencing our thoughts and beliefs about these "terrorists". I know what I wrote will piss a lot of people off as 9/11 emotionally effected many people, but lets be realistic here. I'd love to here more thoughts. This post wasn't meant to offend anyone. I've actually thought about this for a while now.

meistro...when did civilians within the US who died in the 9-11 attacks trap the people associated with Al Qaeda and slaughter them. I think the scenario is completely different. Udham Singh set his mind on going for the people who directly slaughtered people in Jallianwala Bagh such as General Dyer. The terrorists of 9-11 killed hundreds and hundreds of innocent people with their attacks...people who probably had no association with the problems Al Qaeda faced....

Naveen, I understand what you're saying. however, the innocent people who have died in iraq and palestine have nothing to do with al qaeda either. We can have the same argument about the US gov't killing innocent people. Al Qaeda flew into those buildings to make a statement. Sadly, it killed many innocent people. Yet, those innocent people are no different than the ones who die everyday in the middle east. And for what point? Why does the US kill innocent people? For oil? What statement are they trying to make? They're killing people because the can. But 9/11 happened and all hell broke loose. The last time america was attacked was in 1941 at pearl harbour. Now you tell me. One attack as opposed to many by the US. And you're saying al qaeda is a terrorist organization? They might be, but We've got history's biggest terrorist organization living in our backyard. With that said, why is it that everyone is lookg for Al Qaeda for making an attack ONCE while America has attacked innocent countries many times. Sadaam Hussein was hung for being a cruel dictator. Now lets see George Bush, who has been the definition of all things wrong in the world, get the same thing Sadaam did.

congressmen are to blame too. alot of these congressmen have investments in military contracting companies, and the only way these companies make money, is with war. when war starts, they can mass produce supplies to meet demand, more profit for them = more profit for the investors = easily controlled decisions on war. its not JUST Bush.

Meistro, you somehow are trying to justify what happened on 9/11 with what the U.S. is doing. Two wrongs do not make a right. Bhagat Singh and Udham Singh didn't go around killing innocent people. Bin Laden and his people are doing just that, killing innocents. I do support our troops but I do not support this "war of/on terror" that we're in. The majority of the U.S. people do not support this war. Even though this war was started on complete bullshit, it was nonetheless started by the bush orgranization. Not by congress, not by the citizens, but by the bush organization. You can call the bush organization terrorists but you can't put the United States in the same sentence as Bin Laden and Al Qaeda. Yeah, there are people dying in the middle east, but our troops are not going around finding innocent people to kill. Our political system right now is complete hypocrisy but it will change with this coming election. The united states is farrrrrrr farrr farrrrrr away from Bin Laden and Al Qaeda.
Turbo, with respect to your response, I am not trying to justify what happened on 9/11. But we are living in a world where the phrase "survival of the fittest" speaks volumes. You cannot blame the "terrorists" for what happened on 9/11. The US government can only blame itself. It was only a matter of time that something like 9/11 was going to happen. Pearl harbour occured 60 years before that. For 60 years nobody dared attack the US. It is unfortunate that Bin Laden and Al Qaeda have killed and continue to kill innocent people. It is unfortunate that innocent people die worldwide, to make a political statement. You mentoned that you support the US troops in the war on terror, yet, you have failed to recognize that they are the very terrorists killing innocent people. They are uneducated people that the recruiters pluck out of impoverished locations in the US because the have no other direction in life. You give them a gun, and tell them to kill and torture innocent people, when they don't even know WHY they are doing it. You are correct, two wrongs don't make a right, but in times of war, when you have a ruthless government such as the US, retaliation is necessary. I don't believe it will stop until the US gets the hell out of there. The "war on terror" has done nothing but plunge our nation into what seems to be an economic depression. It is clear to us all that the war was not to fight terror, but to gain oil rights. It has been 8 years, and the US has not benefited from the war in ANY way. So instead of pointing the finger at "terrorists" for the world's problems, the US needs to look at itself because this country is the world's most powerful force and I believe it is capable of even bringing world peace and stopping its own terrorist practices, and the rest of the world will follow.

A terrorist is a coward who is motivated by revenge, thus death is his ultimate goal and not debate or understanding. A revolutionary is one who will make sure social change occurs by any means necessary and will further his message at any cost, like Bhagat Singh and Udham Singh did when they voluntarily allowed themselves to be arrested so that their message could be broadcast worldwide in courtrooms of bias.

dang. Why can't everybody get a little credit for their actions. Gandhi did his part, Bhagat Singh did his part... And to all of them we are very fortunate.
