Punjabi culture society of Jersey city is proud to announce the offficial competing line up for JC Bhangra Competition on May 1, 2010 in Jersey city, NJ. The committee would like to thanks all the teams, judges and sponsors for their support. We are honored to announce and have the following teams compete at our event this year

Sick lineup! As Joe said, not sure how we got in... we never applied! lol

And I hear Dheerja Kaur is running shuttle service to the afterparty. Too drunk to drive? Hit her up! Awesome service. Highly recommend!

It's true, you'll even get a sick playlist for the ride that includes old school KJ mixes.

WHAAAAAT? We didn't get that! I mean, I passed out on Kala Sher for half that ride, but I don't remember any KJ mixes.

glad to see that the new recruits i had once brought on jashan have rebuilt the team and trained a new generation and diverse group of dancers! hopefully you all will use this as a great platform for launching yourselves in a big way next year, too!

Rutgers, NJ is not a city. It's quite clear what is doing on with Dhamak Punjab di. There is only 1 Rutgers Bhangra.

Punjabi Cultural Society Of Jersey City has selected the following judges for JC Bhangra Competition on May 1.

1. AVTAR CHANA:

Member, International Dance Council - UNESCO, Paris (France), conducted Bhangra
Dance Workshops in Czech Republic (2000); learn t advanced techniques in Choreography,
Contemporary dance, Contact Improvisation, Fitness for dancers etc., from
the prestigious "Laban Centre of Dance" in London, U.K.(2001).
Invited by the University of Sofia (BULGARIA) and GNM - Budapest (HUNGARY) also
conducted Bhangra workshops at renowned OMMA STUDIO at Crete (GREECE)
in 2002-03 and the mission / workshops were well received and appreciated by the media, around the globe.
Canada based "Bhangra Nation Multicultural Society (BNMS)" inducted name in the
"Hall of Fame" and conferred "2004-Life Time Achievement Award in Bhangra" in
Toronto and after that got various invitations to "Judge" the following
World`s Biggest Inter-varsity /Inter-Collegiate Bhangra Championships:
---"8th World Bhangra and Dhol Championship" conducted by the Bhangra Nation in Toronto (Jan 04)- CANADA;
---"11th Bhangra Blowout" by the George Washington University, Washington D.C. (April 04)- USA;
---"Bruin Bhangra-2004" by the University of California, Los Angeles (May `04) - USA;
---"Bayou Bhangra" by the University of Houston - Texas (Sept `04)- USA;
---"Bhangra Idols" - International Championship by Paji Guys Entertainment, Vancouver, BC (Sept.05)- CANADA;
---"Bhangra Bash" by the University of Washington - Seattle (Feb `06)- USA;
---"South Asian Alliance Culture Show" by the University of Toronto - Mississauga (March `06) - CANADA

..... Got invitations to 'Judge' three-four more International Bhangra Championships in Canada and the United States of America (April/May 2010 onwards).

2. PUNEET SANDHU
Born in America, Puneet has been doing bhangra since he was eight years old. Growing up in Carteret, a town with a strong Punjabi background he was influenced greatly by the Punjabi society around him. In 2003 Puneet competed a national bhangra competition with relative. They danced for the Ludhiana university team that placed 3rd to BMP fire and the Pammi Bai bhangra team. In 2007 he returned to India for the same competition, and this time as a co-captain won 2nd only to DAV college Jalandhar. He co-founded a local New Jersey team in 2008 call Tohar Punjab Di which was an exhibition team at The Bhangra Project in 2007. Puneet has also performed with various Punjabi singers like Bikram Singh, Sarbjit Cheema, Pammi Bai, Jagpal Sandhi and Baljit Malwa. He is currently judging in a variety of new bhangra competitions east coast as well as performing with artists in the Tri-state area.

3. SUKHWINDER KAUR: EX BHANGRA PERFORMER AND HAS JUDGED MANY COMPETITIONS.

4. VISHAKHA SHAH: CLASSICAL DANCE TEACHER AND HAS JUDGED COMPETITIONS.

kidda atinder bai... it is affiliated with us but majority of the dancers are new and gna focus more on the folk aspect. we could have named them "juniors" ... but we thought it doesnt justify them. the team has been coached by Sukhdip Chhina (sukha).
