FINALLY had some time to write a review after driving back down to seattle and flying back to NY....
Organization:
Hotel:
For a first year competition, I guess it was alright. We arrived at 4AM in the morning in Vancouver to find that we didn't have any rooms booked for us at that time and had to wait till 2 PM to get into the hotel. Now after traveling 8+ hours on plane and car that was extremely irritating. The organizers basically told us to go to Dennys and wait there until 2.
The hotel itself was pretty nice. It was crazy because right across the street a homeless guy had died and it was swarming with ambulances and police cars at one point.
On a positive note the venue was extremely close to the hotel along with many of the bars, clubs, restaurants, etc. and Vancouver is an incredible cityyy
Show:
We got to the show to find out that we had no dressing room at all so we had to put our stuff in one of the 'side closets'. We also did not find out who our liason was UNTIL an hour before the show started so it was basically us figuring out everything ourselves. The venue was smaller but it was a perfect size for this competition. The speakers were AMAZING, but the lighting wasn't the greatest in the world. I know someone was saying ABC's performance looked chaotic but thats because the stage was reaaallllly smalll. MCs were really goood.
Judges were extremely respectful and were very willing to talk to us after the show which was amazing (and how it always should be). They literally talked to us for 15-20 minutes giving us tips.
Teams:
PCBCA: Saw you guys from the side but from what I heard as usual you guys ripped it. I think people are getting a little used to this set though (its been the 4/5 performance its being used??) which is why I'm really loooking forward to the Elite set. Huge shoutout to Jason for making out mixes this year AND letting us borrow a chimta outfit; you're the man.
Rochester: (us we were second) ours should be posted soooon, any tips/reviews would be helpful! Only coed team of the night
ABC: Like I said earlier, without a DOUBT the BEST performance of the night. I was blown away. Every second had creativity, energy, flow. WELL WELL deserved placing. Plus you guys are all madddd chill. Can't wait to see you guys at Elite 8 in the next 2-3 years (I'll put money on it).
FBC: loved the Vardiyaan...you guys did really well for a 2nd/3rd competition ever? I had to step out for half this performance so i wish I had more to say...
SFBC: With the home crowd going NUTS you guys definetally delivered...haven't seen you guys perform like this in a long while...very very clean, creative and killed the ending
BCC: Made an 8 man set look like a 12 man set..you guys KILLED it...Creative daang segment and your chaya chaya jhummar was cute ahah.... THe yellow jodi KILLLLLLEDD it...This was definetally a toss up for placing second....you guys def should compete more
My placings:
1) ABC (without a doubt)
2) SFBC/BCC
(again didn't see PCBCA properly)
Afterparty:
It was maddddddddd expensive for teams, (20$ per person) so we didnt go to the official after party, but stilll got to see lomaatic at the placings...gransville is a SICK street though so just hung out there and basically hopped around
Shoutouts:
Again huge shoutout to Jason Kataria for making our mix (you'll hear it soon), GQ (for tying our paggha) + Harkiran and the rest of the PANJ crew, all the ABC boys we got to meet, Yainkee Siani from FBC (gotta come to NY man)
We'll be posting stuff soon so look out for it! Amazing weeekeddddd
