yeah; i think that's what "experienced a multitude of judging styles" means.hsdeol said:did u dance at all the listed competitions?
This is a bit misleading to competitions looking for judges. You should format your competition history in the form of "COMPETED/PLACING @ COMPETITION with TEAM NAME" to better show which team you danced for with at what competition and how they performed. The year of the competition is also important because placings change year to year and a dancer who danced at Bhangra Blowout 2001 will not be as valued as one who just danced last year.J Wong said:Teams Danced For: VCU Bhangra, Joshiley Jawan, Khirre Phul Gulab De, First Class Bhangra, NC State Bhangra, Natya Academy's Gajjdi Jawani (These teams represent a plethora of dancing styles and thus provide me with insight into the myriad dancing styles on the circuit.)
Competitions: T-Dot Bhangra, Blowout Bhangra, Bayside Bhangra, Ultimate Bhangra Competition, Elite 8, Virsa Punjab Da, Aaj Ka Dhamaka, Bhangra Masti, Bhangra Allstars, Dhol Di Awaaz, Bhangra in the Burgh, Boston Bhangra, Bhangre Di Mehfil (Have experienced a multitude of judging styles from traditional to more modern competitions.)

I understand completely, alright, i'm going to do some retooling and repost. Thanks for the help.Sue Sylvester said:J Wong said:Kinnell, would you recommend a better place for me to post this, ask competitions directly?
There's nothing wrong with posting it online on BTF, but just be ready for the compliments (ie: "Wow, you've danced on a lot of teams and you seem like a versatile dancer. I heard you learned an entire routine in a day!") AND the critiques (ie: "How have you applied your knowledge of bhangra and your creativity to help your teams do well? Why didn't you compete with said team at their biggest/most important competitions?"). If you're willing to take the critiques and are willing to respond to them/improve, I'm sure competitions will begin to take note of you as an up-and-coming potential judge and members from the community may begin to vouch for you and suggest you to competitions.

For example,
> 1ST PLACE @ Bruin Bhangra 2011 with AEG
> 2ND PLACE @ Bhangra Fever 2011 with FAUJ
> 2ND PLACE @ Boston Bhangra Competition 2010 with AEG
..etc
This would also better show the community and competitions the extent of your involvement and contribution with a given team (especially since you feel the need to publicize it here on BTF).
I'm sure you don't want to mislead people to think that you got 1st Place with JJ at VPD, 1st Place with VCU at Bayside when you really didn't... And if I was a competition organizer, I wouldn't give you much credibility for being a 10 second gimmick for VCU at Elite 8 2011... lol Since you feel the need to publicize your credentials, be straight about it - the last thing we need are judges with misleading credentials.
