So can anyone help me understand this whole Karma thing on here? I'm not catching it.

Generally, you give someone karma if they say something you find helpful, constructive, agreeable, etc.

Although it doesn't carry much weight on this forum (in my opinion), the amount of karma is usually, but not always, proportional to that user's, let's say, "usefulness" on BTF. Correct me if I'm wrong.

A "smiting" feature was disabled a while ago...that ish was fun to use!

Under the users avatar/pic there are three "links" which read

Posts (non-click-able): However many times the person posted on BTF
Karma (this is a click-able link): How many karma points other users have given the person for being useful or merely just saying something a person agrees with, whatever the case is.
[+] (clock-able link): You click that link to GIVE a user a karma for lets saying helping you find a song you couldn't find after a billion and two attempts.

don't worry dude, i had the same problem when i first started out. you have to reach 15 "counted" posts (posts in Off-Topic do not count) in order to give people karma. the link appears after you hit this amount.
