There are so many things wrong with this argument. Like all you can reply is *facepalm*

Here are a couple things since you're pissing me off:

- You should take a few minutes (or years) and reflect about the hate that you hold and that you learned. Is the world really this black and white? Are all the Hindus (and the Gorey) in India really out to screw you (the 'real punjabis' or the Sikhs or whatever you classify yourself as) as their main goal?

- Sikhs werent even a simple 50% majority in Punjab when it was formed. Only after Punjabi was trifurcated into 3 states do Sikhs now have a 50-60% share of the people in Punjab. Should we kill the other 40% in Punjab, when you make your own awesome country? Or would you like to take the natural and time-tested route: mass violence, riots, rapes, and murders just like in 1947.

- You say Punjabis should have their own country, but you really mean Sikhs. Hey guess what-- there are a ton of non-Sikh Punjabis. And if you count ALL OF PUNJAB (including in Pakistan), Sikhs are a small minority.

- There are actually very many similarities between Sikhism and Hinduism and Islam. I know Sikhs dont like it described as "a mixture of Hinduism and Islam", but the religion does have overlapping ideals with each of the religions.

- You're so full of hate it's pathetic. You need to go learn about the world and realize that your pride will not help you succeed in life -- it'll just make you angry and bitter and feel like the world owes you something (like you're own f*cking country)

I'm gonna get killed for this but what the hell.

Sikhs have had almost 489 years. We have yet to learn how to run a Gurudwara properly (First gurudwara was built in 1521/22 by Guru Nanak Dev ji), what makes you think that we can successfully run a country? I can almost guarantee you, within three months, Khalistan will be Jattistan, bhapastan, tarkhanstan, lubanastan, etc. F8ck castes. We can't even agree to be punjabis. So before the caste division, we're getting Malwa-stan, doaba-stan, majha-stan etc. Before even dreaming about something, prove that you're even capable of running it. And if it is hypothetically created, what is the type of government? Are we getting another Taliban/Iran Theocracy where we impose our religious beliefs on others? Or will it be a democracy? If it is a democracy, what evidence do you have to support that it will be different from the current state?

khalistan can not and will not happen - as much as being a separate nation is something my parents would love to have as a sikh family but i know it will not be run well. too many problems, i dont even wana start on them. i don't want to say that punjabis can not rule a country to themselves, b/c that is a biased statement amongst EVERY punjabi (saying theyre not capable of doing that)...but until our own people stop giving a shit about stuff like castes, or who's the bigger jatt, or who's the better sikh, we can not rule our own land. im sorry but its true - we spend so much fucking time fighting with ourselves and figuring out which caste is better that we would run the damn country into the ground in a matter of weeks (not months)

i am not a supporter of gandhi, nor have i ever been, nor will i ever be - along with my family...but i will not get into that argument

What does Khalistan mean?
The root word Khalis means pure...... so Khalistan means Land of the pure.

I know how one generally rolls his eyes upon hearing "Khalistan zindabad", but we have to understand why some ask for Khalistan. Looking into history, Khalistan wasnt even a Sikhi idea, if anything it was Nehru who promised a separate land to Sikhs if we helped with India's struggle for indepedance. What most people are still asking and looking for is the land promised, nothing more.

Sikhs are saint soldiers (saint saphi's). We fight for justice, and most sikhs feel cheated by Nehru and the gov't and thus the power behind Khalistan zindabad has grown, and now is the umbrella under where all injustice, violence, riots, genocide ever occured against sikhs compiles. Most sikhs ask for Khalistan, but most would be satisfied with an honest apology from the gov't for all the wrong doings caused to the Sikhs.

The thing is; it is human nature to grow impatient over time and not be so polite when asking for certain things. A great example is by Amaru Shakur talking about how the oppressed fight back and have rage:

..although fighting for Khalistan isn't as extreme as what Amaru talks about, you can understand why some people are so passionate about having a separate state for Sikhs. Eventually getting Khalistan would be an ode to all the martyr's, to all that struggled for Sikhi.

At the end of the day, Bhai Sukhdev and Bhai Harjinder said it best in their letter to the president, "The Khalsa does not worship power, rather it enters history by empowering itself." Once/If Sikhs arrive at the stage of empowering themselves, Khalistan probably won't matter as much. The indian gov't could help by recognizing and teaching punjabi in punjab, giving the option to check off Sikh to newly wed Sikh couples in punjab when filling out the marriage certificate. Doing more for the families that were affected by the Delhi and Amritsar genocide, etc.

jsandhu, i hope you dont take this posts as an attack on you or anything but i understand where you are coming from. it is much easier to appeal to peoples emotions than it ever is their sense of reason. that is how horrible things humans do to each other happen, through stirring up emotions.

i think alot of us, myself included would have loved the idea of a separate independent punjab/sikh homeland but with the way the world is and how people in punjab are that is not a viable option. there are plenty of reasons, people listed them.
