This is really terrible to watch, and such videos are always disheartening. As an aside, the people being killed in the video are trade union activists and laborers; I'm obviously not justifying anything, but just wanted to point that out.

Additionally, if any of you are actually interested in this specific video, you should check out the youtube channel of the user and read his/her background. To quote the user:

"Sorry to say but i have lived in a hindu country and lived amongst the hindu's and i really believe that hinduism is the MOST RETRED, BACKWARD RELIGION IN THE WORLD."

It's important to understand the source of information and content that we are observing and commenting on.

On a separate note, is this just a thread about hindu terrorism in India? If so, it's not hard to start multiple other threads about islamic terrorism, christian terrorism, etc. in India as well. Will those threads result in comments such as "wow... hindus are treated so poorly in India, the state doesn't do enough to protect hindus."

Along with the persecution of christians, muslims, sikhs, dalits, etc., there is a long history of persecution of hindus throughout the Indian state as well. Brahmins being persecuted in Tamilnadu, hindus being raped, killed, massacred in Kashmir, persecution of hindus in the Northeast, the Marad Massacre in Kerela, and the list could go on and on.

All of this killing and violence has reached the point where everyone is involved in actions against everyone. You cannot point out "hindu terrorism" without acknowledging "islamic terrorism", "christian terrosim" etc.
brother sach kora lagda hundaa, i never heard of Hindu riots, never heard a hindu person getting burnt live, truth is Hindus r majority in India and they think they have all the right to do what ever they want, kill who ever they want when ever they want. why they always attack minority. you might be right just please tell me how many Hindus got killed during 1984 just tell me that please.

uhh....you are very wrong to say that Hindus have never been killed in India. I am a Kashmiri Hindu and I know close relatives and family friends who have lost people in massacres and terrorist attacks in Kashmir. Over 500,000 Kashmiri Hindus families are displaced and the few that live in Kashmir pay the terrorists. Never heard a hindu person burnt alive...check back to Jan 20th 1991 when terrorists went knocking on Hindu households in Kashmir and raped their women and burnt their houses. I agree Hindus dont have the right to kill people or hurt people. Def not...but Hindus arent immune to killings either.

so regardless of religion of the terrorist they should not be killed or arrested to bringing havoc to the masses (Sikh and Muslims ones should not be arrested to shot...)? You think Tamil Tigers don't get arrested for the violence they bring to the south of India? Tamil Tigers are Hindu. You think the ppl who died in Kashmir in 1989-1991 got justice..no. and unfortunately that is the reality. I know it is easy to point fingers to religion...but it is more the Indian govt system than religion.

Hey man, I'm not sure if you're serious but you clearly should do some more research if you want to have an educated viewpoint. You've never heard of a riot against hindus?

Kashmiri Pandits have been massacred and persecuted nonstop in Kashmir to the point that 300,000 are now living in refugee camps after migrating to Jammu and 100,000 have fled to Delhi (according to the CIA).

Oregon recognizes Sept. 14th as Martyrs Day to recognize this ethnic cleansing: http://www.leg.state.or.us/09reg/measures/sjr1.dir/sjr0023.intro.html

You've never heard of Hindus being burnt alive?

The Godhra riots in 2002 that have been so widely recognized were incited by the live burning of a train full of Hindus.

And as of 1984, of course what happened in Delhi and throughout is terrible, absolutely horrendous. The targeted attacks by the state is frightening and horrific and will always stand as probably the biggest blemish on the Indian government's record.

But don't be ridiculous man. You clearly seem to care about this matter, and I highly suggest you look into the massacre of Hindus in Punjab through the 1980s as well. There were massive massacres of Hindus AND Sikhs by separatists pre-1984. Post-1984, there were unrivaled killings of Hindus throughout Punjab which forced many to flee to Delhi (this is supported by detailed documentation as well as demographic statistics). If you would like I can point you to more in-depth statistics as this is meticulously researched by academics and historians, the human rights watch, etc..

Honestly, it's unfortunate that you haven't heard about the persecution of Hindus because I've heard about the persecution of Sikhs, Muslims, Christians, Dalits, Women etc. It's important to understand issues from a holistic perspective, rather than simply taking what you've been told and broadcasting it as your evidence of a single group as mighty terrorists. I hope you take the time to get a better understanding of violence in India so that you personally don't retain hatred for one single group.

Google hindu terrorists arrested. Also, google "hindu jailed for killing ____ (insert muslim, christian, sikh)" and you may find what you're looking for.

Justice was not served for the 1984 riots/attacks, but neither has it been served for the attacks against Hindus as Kashkoor pointed out.

I can sympathise with gabru on this matter. however, it comes down to this: when will india learn? from this thread we've learnt about various massacres that have happened all throughout India within in the last 20/30 years. It's simply not on! I dont know how India seems to be able to brush these problems under the carpet, but year by year they do. There is video footage ON THIS THREAD that has fully clothed police officers just simply standing by and watching the beatings take place. Yet nothing is done..

No matter what religion you are in India, what your background is, you might just find yourself being politics' next target.

Definitely!
I sympathize with you, Gabru13, because I too know people who have lost relatives to all this unnecessary bullshit in India.

There really is no reason to sit here and argue about which religion gets it worse.. because I have seen all religions being discriminated against while I was in India. Although a majority, even Hindu's face violence in India.

Gabru bro I think you're missing kartiks point. They are trying to say that everyone has suffered at one point or another, from all the different religions. Obviously you have experienced personal suffering and I can only sympathise and send you my condolences but the thing is, bad things have happened to people from each religion,I'm not saying equally as bad or whatever but they've also done fucked up things to each other at some point. One persons action causes revenge from someone else and its a never ending circle of hatred. All of our people have suffered, we need to create a future of tolerance and acceptance and brotherhood between all of us so that things like this don't continue to happen in the future. Ignorance is not always bliss.

My neighbor's father was shot in front of her when she was 4 in Kashmir. Her aunt was gang-raped and slaughtered in the streets. My grandfather housed Sikhs in the 1984 riots and his yard was set on fire. If you want to sit there and claim that the only persecution that has happened is against Sikhs because you are too ignorant to recognize that violence is happening against EVERYONE. I am sorry for your loss but siting there calling out Hindus as the sole perpetrators is the exact kind of close-minded bullshit that incites terrorism and hate crime in the first place. I sympathize with all minorities for the violence they have endured, and you should also sympathize with the violence that Hindus have endured.

Just because a gang of Muslims gang-raped my friends aunt, does not mean that Muslims haven't suffered as well. You have clearly never been exposed to a holistic viewpoint and have not been taught to research before developing biased ideas so I do not blame you. Read a few news articles, do some unbiased research and you may realize that Hindus have suffered unrivaled persecution.

There's no point in trying to argue who is attacked more, and we really shouldnt. All groups suffer from sectarian violence, when are we going to learn are lessons and open our minds?

+1. We have to create a social norm of love and that only comes from recognizing that ALL groups suffer. Instead of having a reaction based perspective, we need to develop one of knowledge and understanding.

Bottom-line is this is what happens when you mix politics with religion..IM pretty sure if Sikhs were the dominant population in India during '84 and the Hindu population was under the same circumstances those riots would have happened to them..Politics screws everything up and its why you separate state and religion which India isn't really known for. As long as you have politicians taking advantage of the race card you will always have violence and discrimination against all religion whether they are majority or minority. Soon enough when India really needs to move forward in the world they wont be able to because of messed up shit like this; those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Gabru bro I feel your pain, I lost my cousin and nearly lost my chachaji and my other cousin but we can't blame an entire race for what a handful of people did. As Kartik said, we have to create an environment based on love and respect, not only in India but worldwide. But as long as were not thinking before acting this crap will just get worse....

Well back to my research paper....Fun

amongst drugs, guns, and 1000 other things.... religion is the leading man-made (not god-sent) cause of death.
