We've lost our leverage for Dwight. I'm happy, but could have been happier.
you need to pray bynum stays healthy or teams will SHIT on the lakers in the paint even with the addition of CP3. you have garbage big men aside from bynum ... when bynum was out, odom stepped up to PF and pau to center, but that option doesnt exist anymore. i'd be happy IF i were a laker fan, but boy oh boy would i be crossing my fingers bynum can stay healthy.

he can't. and neither can cp3 for that matter. terrible trade. Not because it's a terrible idea, it's brilliant. but it won't work

unless buss gets howard without trading bynum somehow, i deem the cp3 trade a bad move due to the fact that the Lakers frontcourt is now weaker than the Miami Heat's.

NBA owners have pushed commissioner David Stern to kill the deal sending Chris Paul to the Los Angeles Lakers, sources tell Y! Sports.

Owners were irate in Board of Governors meeting with Stern, livid that the league-owned Hornets were allowed to make Paul deal, sources say.

It's not just Bynum's health that is worrisome......Paul's got a bum knee. The whole league knows it and the issue seems to have been swept under the rug during all of this trade talk. If the Lakers have something else planned, we'll see what happens. But if they are rollin with this crew, I'll put money on them not making the western conference finals.

cp3 is now a laker, oh lawdy lawd

That is a negative. The nba killed the deal in which Pau Gasol would have gone to Houston, while Kevin Martin, Luis Scola, Lamar Odom and Goran Dragic were set to be dealt to the Hornets. So cp3 in a lakers uniform is not happening anymore.

I hate how the league just said no like that. I'm a Laker fan so I have mixed feelings for this trade. One thing for sure, giving LO up was risky. But I think the Lakers acknolwedge that if CP3 comes to the Lakers, Dwight will most likely WANT to come to the Lakers a lot more now than before. Orlando will be forced to make the trade. Lakers knew that if they made a move for Chris Paul, Dwight would have forced Orlando to trade him to LA. And let's face it, I don't think the offer we could have for Dwight is all that terrible for Orlando IF they must trade him somewhere.

BUT thanks to Sir David Stern, no trade. No CP3 in a Laker uni...I think now its time to look into Bynum+either Pau or LO for Dwight and Hedo as the base for the trade. Let's see what happens.

What a great clubhouse atmosphere thats gonna be: "Yea... uh... we tried very hard to get rid of both of you guys and in fact made the deal! But we were forced to take you back."

Ha, Stern just shat on Jimmy Buss(try explaining that sneaky move to Pau and Odom now). This is a league where the players usually get their way(Yeah, im talking about you, Melo, LeBron, and Deron). Paul is somehow gunna end up in New York and if the Hornets are smart like the Nuggets, theyre gunna get Amare outta that trade rather than lose Paul at the end of this season for nothing. Dwight on the other hand, is a toss up..La and NJ(ill always say there from NJ no matter where they go!) both have good assets. I'd love to see Dwight to NYC since a center who can actually play DEFENSE is needed there but thanks to 'Melo, our team has been gutted of all possible assets but cash considerations.
I hear Tyson Chandler to NYC is gunna happen though?

for all of you with twitter....follow @incarceratedbob if you already don't. great source for big news.

I'm pissed that Stern vetoed the trade. Lebron and Bosh both signed with Miami with no owners bitching and whining about how it's unfair. Apparently a letter was written by the Cavs owner (and made public on Yahoo Sports) that said the majority of the owners in the NBA didn't see how Stern could let them trade away Paul. We initially got Gasol in a very lopsided trade and no one said anything.
People are coming to their senses and starting to see that even though the roster is getting older, every God damn team in the league should fear the Lakers. Purp and yellloooowwww!!!

Every owner in the league was pissed off about the Lebron trade, and Dan Gilbert (owner of the Cavs) had a very similar letter when Lebron got dealt as well... not sure how you could forget that. The league owns the Hornets it was in their best interest not to fall for CP3's demands. This is good and bad for the league, shows that players can't just bitch and complain to jump ship.

all sports are based off economics, its a simple business
the rich and powerful always win over the smaller guy

not trying to stir controversy but let's face it, after a guy is drafted and developed as a lottery pick, he's bound to leave for either more money or to be on a winning team for job security, personal reasons, etc...

im not saying the lakers or chris paul or anyone else are a bunch of asses, im just simply implying that THIS is indeed how it works in sports (nba, nfl, nhl, sometimes mlb)

LeBron was a free agent there's more freedom with his decision and what the team he goes to can do. Paul is in a situation where he wants to be traded, and that control is mostly to the team not him.So if owners cried about what happened in Miami there's only so much they could wine about because its in the players hands not the team.

For once I'm happy that trade didn't go down. :)
I'm with you in that I think it's a bad trade (good on paper, but bynum and cp3 will be injured at some point).

But the problem is that you can't go back, Pau and Odom have to now go back and start playing again? Tough situation.

There is absolutely no reason for Stern to turn this down outside of saving face as a league. They should have handled it in the CBA, all the teams were withing the rules and the Hornets are now screwed cause they won't get shit for CP3.

Lakers trade odom to Dallas for trade exception and future first round draft pick. Good move to clear cap space for Dwight and hedo? If Dwight doesn't get traded to the Lake Show then we are screwed. A very big gamble.
