Laptop Help!

hey guys, I know theres a lot of computer/tech savvy people on this forum so maybe someone can help. So i have an HP laptop. It has a 17" screen and for the last two weeks what its been doing is, when I turn on the computer, the screen won't turn on. I have to open and close the lid maybe 10 times before the screen comes on. Sometimes when the screen turns on, there are blurry lines and discoloration. I'll open and close the lid a few more times and the screen is perfectly normal. Whats going on with my laptop? I've had this thing for 2 years now. Is there like a display driver that I can download or something? Any advice or help would be appreciated.

i have the exact laptop and been having the same problem for a while now. i just wait for the screen to start working again after a while. any way to fix it?

hp laptops do that alott after they get kinda old, if youve had it for 2 years it might just be that its gotten worn out, especially if you use it alot. also hp laptops are good, but for some reason they always have alot of display driver problems, i used to have the same 17 inch, and it would do that randomly, might be time to just get it replaced

The laptop screen runs off a separate battery and repeatedly opening/closing the screen charges it when it's empty via a regenerative hinge.

I have an hp also and I don't have that problem but it does get hot very fast and starts acting up...find out if u have a warantee on it...call up hp

from the sound of it, seems like your screen may be going bad... this is somewhat common in laptops as the wires get pinched after repeated use in the area they are routed... you may want to contact tech support though... if its an well known issue they may have a tsb out for it... my sony overheated and almost caught fire a few months back... though out of warranty, sony was aware of the problem and repaired it for free...

the cost of the replacement screen alone would justify investing in a new laptop... if you have a service plan it will be covered.. if not, take off your data and call it a day...

get a dell... ive had mine for 5 years, no major problems... it overheated a few times, but i bought a few fans that sit underneath it and it perfect now... a couple of re-formats here and there, but other than that its been a solid computer... and this computer has put on more miles(literally) than most laptops...

have you tried to open it up and dust the cpu/system fans as well as the heatsink? You will be surprised how must dust these things can suck in, which will greatly affect the amount of airflow to cool the system down...

i did man, i bought one of those air spray can things and blasted the shit outta the computer... my hard drive is actually damaged... anytime i move the computer the blue screen of death shows up... as long as the computer sits in one spot, it works just fine.. haha... so it's basically a desktop now... this baby has been a workhorse for me, i feel sad when i think about buying a new computer so im milking it for everything its worth... its about a year past its prime but its still working!

Theres dust deep deep down inside built up on the heatsink, just like with a pc... Hit me up when ur back in the bay and ill fix it... As for the hdd, most likely loose hdd connector or loose ram chips...

buddy i got a toshiba sattilite get that the best ones cheap best and no over heating i think that your screen battery thats the problem try replacing the input output whire from the hmotherbord to the scrren and get neww video card aswell while your watching a video on any site it might just crash on you becarefull i had a freind i fixed it so ...
