+1 at the show I was in awe at their performance however, if I didn't know they were LBC and couldn't hear everyone in the audience ripping off their shirts in madness I'd probably not enjoy the performance AT Bruin considering all the other teams. I think there were definitely other teams that did WAY better than LBC but because of their reputation and their "fame" they placed. It sucks but it is what it is... On a lighter note: Jasmine is off the hook totally carries the team to a higher level. Marry me!Jeeti said:I love LBC as well..the team members are great (i lowe you turbo), they dance for the right reasons, if lbc is competing, crown is always readily available.. etc... but I have to agree completely with Harman, Saleem, and ESPECIALLY NSC...Honestly, I think it is a product of the "hype" of LBC performing at Bruin...if you impartially approach this video, and don't get lost in all the hype...you see that...it is in classic LBC style...yes, the dancers are skilled...but overall it is not a routine that would place at other competitions...just approach it without the chants of LBC still ringing in your head and see what you think of the video. Many people on here will rip the hell out of other videos, yet a performance as hyped as this is praised to high heaven.
Thats great that you enjoyed it Joe, thats great that most of the bruin audience did too.....but that doesn't mean that faizan, jeeti, harman, or myself has to. I don't think anyone watches bhangra routines with the purpose of judging them or being critical....thats just ridiculous. I think NOT posting constructive feedback to teams does them a disservice, no matter how sick the performance was. Also, in general, when people hype a team up, saying that they were amazing....you want to experience that same feeling and when it falls short of your expectations, you will be naturally disappointed and notice those mistakes.campy614 said:I thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved the song selection-yes they're songs that teams have used 1,000 times... but I could honestly care less.
I think when you watch a video or a team live with a critical eye, or watch the team LOOKING for mistakes, or you watch the routine more than twice-you will find them. There were points were it was a little sloppy, or mess-ups here and there... EVERY routine has them. If you watch every team (video/live) with a critical eye, you'll never enjoy a performance. Judging teams is not your job-so relax.
Honestly, most of the crowd at Bruin-or any competition for that matter-isn't looking for mistakes. They're looking to have a good time and for something enjoyable to watch. The routine was fun and enjoyable-the crowd loved it-therefore it served its purpose.

NSC said:Hmmm.......I can't really see how you describe this routine as "simply amazing" or "routine was nuts" as Meistro put it. It was an ordinary routine from the choreo, to the song selection, to the formations.....even the execution wasn't as good as it could have been. Most of the dancers are skilled, graceful dancers (jhummar was nice)....but there were def some noticeable mistakes and a lack of energy by a few dancers. On one hand, you can tell the dancers are having a blast, it comes naturally, great nakhre etc. But overall, compared to some of the routines we've seen in the past couple of years, this was pretty average.
Vick said:I heard a lot of good things about LBC this weekend, but this performance didn't really cut it for me. You can obviously tell that each individual dancer is pretty skilled, but as a unit I thought they were pretty sloppy and wouldn't have placed in a lot of competitions. I've seen a lot of great LBC performances live and I love their style, but at certain points in the routine, it just seemed like some dancers were half assing it. Some people call that "laid back LBC style bhangra", but to be honest, it looks bad on video. I thought the routine was dragging until Jasmine showed up, they killed it after that. She is hands down the best female dancer in North America, every time I watch her dance I'm blown away with her style and energy. She solidified a top 3 ranking for them, not sure they could have done it without her... Not a knock on LBC, but this routine was not nearly as clean or polished as I was expecting. Definitely better than what KJ did with their comeback routine, but I was expecting more, maybe it's because I hold you guys to higher standard than most bhangra teams...
For the record, the best team to ever come out of California was Khalsa Junction...HarmanSingh said:Agree 100% with NSC. Yes, LBC has grace and looks like they are having a blast on stage. But their is a point where "making it look easy" becomes "looking like they are lazy". The execution just wasn't there. I love LBC and think they are the best team to come out of Cali along with Gabroo Shokeen and Heeray, but this performance did not have the coordination and was pretty sloppy overall. Hopefully they keep performing because with some cleaning they are still great individual dancers. I just wish people would take each performance as it is, not based on a team's reputation. If this were a newbie team no one would be calling this a great performance...average instead.
You may be going on wins & impact on NA Bhangra...I am going on actual dancing ability.Vick said:For the record, the best team to ever come out of California was Khalsa Junction...HarmanSingh said:Agree 100% with NSC. I wasn't talking about this performance specifically. I'm just saying in general. Also, I know plenty of people who try to play judge and watch a performance looking for mistakes... which to me is stupid-but I digress.NSC said:Thats great that you enjoyed it Joe, thats great that most of the bruin audience did too.....but that doesn't mean that faizan, jeeti, harman, or myself has to.
