I always wondered this too. According to http://www.livepunjab.com/images/luddi_dance-22788.html
"The performers place one hand at the back and the other before the face copying the movement of a snake."

Watch at around the 2:50 mark, I think that matches the description.

Luddi looks a lot like tunka, but but the feet are different...with luddi you're not moving your feet that much, but arms are basically the same. I believe the video sunpreet posted is daankra

Dholaholic, I hope this post addresses your question of Luddi and the discussion of the various bhangra steps/names. I also referenced different parts of videos so you can actually see examples of the steps described (simply explaining it through words can be quite tough).

Traditional Luddi is done with the knees slightly bent & with one foot in front of the other. As you move, your front leg leads your direction and you shift your weight from the front leg to the back leg. Also, your front foot and back foot should elevate slightly off the ground while moving. Please see the video sample below:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2emgfF1Ezg4

^^Traditional Luddi: 6:47^^

There is also a form of Luddi is called "Multani Luddi." This variation has its roots from Multan, a city located in the south-west side of Punjab (in Pakistan). Please see the video sample below:

^^Multani Luddi: 3:16^^

The other form of Luddi I have seen is in the 2nd video posted by COMTONDAJATT. From my understanding, this variation originates from the northern part of Pakistan-Punjabi close to Rawalpindhi city/district. I also personally saw this form of Luddi performed by dancers at a wedding in the city of Sargodha, when I visited Pakistan-Punjab.

Tunka is similar to the traditional Luddi step (you transfer body weight/sway from one foot to the other), but differentiates itself because the front leading foot is brought back toward the inner thigh as you move. Please see the video sample below:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L4jWbgF5C8Q

^^Tunka: 5:11^^

Daankra is quite different than Luddi. The Daankra step is performed by basically high stepping (picking each foot off the ground and moving it closer to the inner thigh one by one) while your body/hips rotate in the direction you want your next foot planted (ultimately, where you want to move to). Please see the video sample below:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6skkIXgvro

^^Daankra: 5:47^^

For an understanding of how to perform other traditional bhangra moves and to reference their associated names, please refer to Arjun's presentation: http://bhangrateamsforum.com/discuss/index.php?topic=2402.msg27945#msg27945

I hope this helps,

~ Basim :)
