1) yes they are the worst fans in canadian marketMeistro said:Canucks fans are the worst in the canadian market? Yeah, thats why we STILL have the longest sell out streak in the NHL right? We believe in our team.
cant forget the 50,000 desis packed on scott road after the canucks won the first round. people were going mental. ppl with the suv's drving around honking. sum other desi brought their dhols and started playing on top of the cars. people doing bhangra everywhere. homemade stanley cups. whole road was blocked off.Guppi Top Da said:d) 3 minutes left in a canucks game and 1/3 of the arena is empty... people dont care... they got work in the morning... ---- now i know there are many die hard fans who would stay till the end... but you are the minority. people get tickets and just go to the game for the sake of going. leafs/flames/oilers/canadiens' fans stay till the end. how many times do you hear a weaka*s "go canucks go" chant... maybe 2-3 times MAX. any other market... constant cheers for their team. (montreal fans "oleee oleee" "na na na na hey hey hey goodbye")
again, there are many people that love the canucks and support them... but there are VERY few people in this town as a whole who really care abou this team. how easy was it to get tickets when the team sucked... soo easy. now its hard but there mostly just sold to people that want to be canuck fans just for the sake of saying it.
a lot of desi people i noticed, "canucks game ohni aaj"... they don't know the first thing about hockey but are supporting the team right now because its the 'thing to do'... its not a passion...its just something to do. if the team was not doing so well... they wouldn't even mention them.
All these points that you make can be applied to the other Canadian markets, or any market in the NHL. Now, Id just like to reply to a couple of your comments ...Guppi Top Da said:1) yes they are the worst fans in canadian marketMeistro said:Canucks fans are the worst in the canadian market? - Reason:
a) they sell out yes... how many people at GM place wear anything to do with the canucks? being a canuck fan here is a social thing. when you look at 18,000 people not very many of them are wearing canuck gear. people rock their ed hardy/armani shirts/blazers.
b) trevor linden, the most iconic figure in canuck history - gets his number retired. the crowd cheers for a few seconds and stops... where were the cheers "LINDEN LINDEN" ... nothing like that... sickening.
c) you celebrate any other player in any other market, the fans will not stop cheering for their player... (prime example: saku koivu returns to habs after battling cancer.... the hab fans cheered for 8 minutes straight)... that is fan loyalty...
d) 3 minutes left in a canucks game and 1/3 of the arena is empty... people dont care... they got work in the morning... ---- now i know there are many die hard fans who would stay till the end... but you are the minority. people get tickets and just go to the game for the sake of going. leafs/flames/oilers/canadiens' fans stay till the end. how many times do you hear a weaka*s "go canucks go" chant... maybe 2-3 times MAX. any other market... constant cheers for their team. if you think sundin was the missing peice... you need to look at that puzzle one more time and relize that there are a few more peices missing.
p.s
i love the canucks... but im realistic.
