I'm a cowboys fan so naturally my first reaction upon hearing the skins getting players was WTF. I still think they need better WRs to make dmac more effective

Looking purely at McNabb, he was overrated on the Eagles. Had some pretty awful games the past two seasons, he just had a great set of fast, young receivers. Kolb could turn out to be the next Aaron Rodgers, and McNabb has maybe one good year left barring any injuries.

The trade itself? AWFUL. The Eagles got absolutely nothing and traded him to a division rival, I don't know what they were thinking. Skins you lucked out, he'll be good for Campbell. You just need to build up that O-line or McNabb's getting sacked the first game and he'll be out for the season.

i think devin thomas and malcolm kelly can develop become dominant receivers in a west coast system run by someone who knows what theyre doing and moss will provide the veteran deep threat. Chris cooley will still be a dominant tight end and fred davis proved he can step up when cooley went down last season.

McNabb may have significantly improved the quarterback position the redskins are still lacking a dominant left tackle and a playmaker in the secondary. almost every dominant defense in the last decade has a dominant safety (polamalu, sanders, sharper, reed etc). But yeah hopefully the redskins are smart and draft a franchise LT (Okung) and maybe develop that safety from within in Landry, who has been an underachiever, or Chris Horton who was good as a rookie but was hurt all last season. If all that happens the skins could be contenders not only in the NFC East but in the NFC as a whole. maybe.

On another note if you compare McNabb to Elway before either played under Shanahan, both played over ten seasons without a superbowl, and mcnabb is statistically more dominant than elway up to that point and mcnabb is two years younger than elway was when shanahan took over in denver so maybe age isnt that big of a deal. maybe mcnabb can be the next elway. might just be a fan hoping but the evidence shows it can happen.

GO SKINS

on a side note someone wrote this article as an april fools joke. he might be psychic

As an Eagle's fan, this trade was pretty wack in my opinion lol. Trading McNabb was understandable considering his last 3 or 4 seasons and his injury record. He has maybe 2, 3 years left of playing, so getting rid of him was probably a safe move, although I've always been a McNabb fan. However, the contents of the trade itself is stupid as hell in my opinion. They might save money by trading him, but they didn't get jack shit for him.

Oh well, we'll see what happens lol. Hopefully Kolb lives up to the expectation, and Vick is actually a little more helpful next year.

This is a problematic trade because the notion that now Jason Campbell is going to be "groomed" now is damaging. The dudes learned a new offense every year, and now he has to take a back seat. I dont know how thats going to affect him emotionally...However, the biggest concern isnt the offense at this point, but the defense. Its a 3-4 scheme, which makes albert haynesworth a gigantic mistake, and I dont know if they have the people in place to make it better than what they had. The biggest think with shoring up the team will be the O-line because, even though McNabb is a good qb, they need to run the ball more and keep the defense off the field to be a successful team. His role is that he will be keeping everyone honest in regards to WHOEVER(it seems like they have as many running backs as episodes of days of our lives) runs the ball.

The comparison with elway is kinda off cause elway had a good defense that no one through on or you would get your recievers killed by steve atwater and tony braxton, and a solid run d. The big difference is THEY HAD TERRELL DAVIS. Thats who won them super bowls. Elway just kept everyone honest(and used his honesty to sell cars in the denver, I should know, my cousin bought one from him).

The Eagles used this deal to put some finality in their qb situation and try to change the face of a franchise dogged by sucking when it counts syndrome(see buffalo bills, early nintey nineties, Napolean, The Aztecs). Kolb will be good, and the offense will be good, but lesean mccoy is going to need to get more touches and prove hes a good back to carry the load by himself like he did at Pitt(aka the university of god).

The eagles need to draft smart in order for them to not look dumb, but there is A LOT of talent in this class. Now itll be interesting to see who nabs clausen.

idk i think the comparison to this years redskins to the super bowl broncos is fair in the sense that mcnabb could be next quarterback to win a superbowl in his late thirties. attributing the superbowl victory to davis isnt necessarily fair because if you think about it thats like attributing the vikings success last year entirely to adrian peterson. yeah he played an integral role but brett favre was the leader of the team and the difference between winning and losing games was in my opinion was brett favre, not adrian peterson. if the redskins address the offensive line in the draft, i think portis will put up numbers similar to what he put up when chris samuels was anchoring the line and mcnabb can make them a team to look out for in the playoffs.

in terms of the defense the switch to a 3-4 isnt ideal to haynesworths skills but if he can adjust to an end in the 3-4 system, romo, eli and kolb should be very afraid. haynesworth and orakpo coming off the same side and worrying about andre carter on the other is enough to make any qb tremble. but in the end the deciding factor is going to be the defenses ability to generate turnovers which jim haslett's defenses have been able to do. In the end i might just be a skins fan thats overly optimistic but i honestly think they can go from 0-6 in their division to atleast 4-2 maybe better

Wilbon is by far my favorite sports caster. Pardon the Interruption would be so much better without Kornheiser.

McNABB is a Pro Bowl QB and def not overrated. Eagles had one of the highest ranking offense in NFL and it was all because of McNABB. He was in the SB once and nfc championship couple of times during his eleven years with eagles, so i think hes not overrated. Eagles defense fell apart after Brian Dawkins left, he was the heart of their defense and they are horrible now. Dont be surprised if eagles offense falls apart after mcnabbs departure. Eagles are falling apart as an organiztion and i doubt they will have winning record in the upcoming season.

Coaches and owners are in NFL are 424232 times better than us at making decisions, so calling this trade stupid or awful, is just your opinion, but if you were McNABB what would u prefer ?? The trade was done for mcnabb because eagles owed him something for the 11 great seasons they had with him. Kevin Kolb just had two good games and that does not mean anything. I think hes not even close to be Aaron Rodgers. Philly made this trade not to gain anything from it, but to help McNabb out so he can pick the team he wants to play for. Ofcourse he would pick redskins over rams or raiders, redskins had one of the best defense in past few years, and mcnabb will take care of offense now.

Redskins have pretty good young receivers, Jason Campbell was not good enough to launch the ball downfield and give them a chance, and mcnabb will def get the ball to these young receivers and ofcourse moss is def a threat. Lets not forget, Mcnabb went to the NFC championship when he had Todd Pinkston and James thrash, horrible receivers, but he found a way to get the ball to them. Redskins just need to work on their O-line now and they should def pick up Okung in the first round and trade JC to get their 2nd round pick back and may be pick up another linemen. Hopefully they find a undrafted awesome receiver like how browns and saints got lucky with joshua cribbs and Marques Colston

When denver picked up John Elway, he was 34 (1 year older than mcnabb) and won a superbowl with him. I'm not getting my hopes up, but this is an AWESOME TRADE, and will turn thing around with the washington redskins. This shows that Shanahan wants a winning season right away and does not believe in picking a young QB or young players and slowly develop a winning team, whatever he is doing, I LOVE IT.

Switching to 3-4 might not be the best thing for haynesworth, but im sure they will line him up outside as a DE and Maake Kemoeatu will play in the middle, blitz a LB (orakpo) from haynesworth side and thats damage for any QB. I think 3-4 defense will workout for the redskins, but they should get a decent LB in the draft.

Overall i think that redskins have a good squad to be a winning team. They have 3 solid RB's that will compete against each other and play hard. McNABB will def play hard specially within the division and we have veteran players on offense and an awesome coach and they all know the system well. Jason campbell was never a leader and thats what the redskins need. Sorry Nikhil Desai, but i think JC had his chance to prove himself to be a leader and a good QB, but he can try that with some other team now, or be smart as brunell and be a back up with a team that can get him a ring...lol

Im excited for the season and specially for the NFC east matchups, toughest division in NFL.

GO REDSKINS!!!!!!!!!!

PS: I HATE KORNHEISER

i dont think mcnabb is overrated...i tihnk he's going to have so many weapons in the passing game in washington...but snyder better do something smart in life and get him an offensive line (okung 4th overall) orrr if you're looking purely at what the team needs i think eric berry is too good to pass up on. he's going to be an absolute phenommm...and I feel like they can even make a trade for a guy like jared gaither from baltimore b/c he's only 24 and a proven LT (even though i believe the bills are looking to trade for him)...i think jason campbell was a decent option back there though..he didn't have much of an o-line to work with and i think he's going to be a very good QB in the nfl for years to come...you can't even put peyton manning behind a line that makes you throw off of your back half the time (redskins)...im not bashing on the redskins b/c my team (buffalo bills) have the same issues or maybe even more...but i truly believe trading for a 30 something year old qb isn't smart ESPECIALLY when you have a relatively young team and in a deep draft class...you could of gotten eric berry 4th overall and traded for another 1st round pick and getting an OT or even getting an OT in the 2nd round. albert haynesworth - idk wtf he's doing or what the ruckus about him is - but i don't think throwing that much money at a player is going to make him play better...

im not a football expert, but these are just my opinions. i feel like paying haynesworth 100 million was wrong especially b/c they could of spent that money on literally 2 really good players on defense or 3 overall solid players. it's just me but i don't believe in paying a player 100 million dollars unless i truly believe they're something like brady, manning, etc.. players that are the cornerstone of a franchise..not a defense...they could of literally of gotten some other free agents this year or even of traded their 2nd round draft pick and gotten some players...i honestly believe they could of picked up demeco ryans of the houston texans and maybe even a couple of other great players who are YOUNG and very talented...and overall BEASTS

as an owner, i want players on my team who not just want money (everyone wants money)...but i want a player(s) who once he signs his deal, is going to go after championships and play hungry - i want leaders - i want people who are going to represent my franchise w/ class

and about jason campbell - give him a real coach (mike shanahan) to work with, not jim zorn - i feel bad for this kid...but if you gave him shanahan then all i can say is game over b/c this kid is talenteddd

I live and breathe burgundy and gold, but I'm just so worn out on this topic. I had 10 phonecalls within 20 min of the trade news popping up online.

I like the trade. I am tired of being offseason champs. Let's just shut up and watch how training camp unfolds.

Also, please trade down the #4 pick and get two decent OL draft choices instead of one possible bust. I want the kid in the second/third round who busts is ass over the talented first rounder who's going to just take money before earning. Just once, please let's go lowkey in the draft

thank god. His sorry ass should've been shipped after 04. A typical cupcake. Icing on the outside to make himself look like a qb, but no substance on the inside. Zero heart. The only thing he cares about is chunky soup. This is the same phud that stayed on the field in 03 and watched the other team celebrate winning the nfc championship game because 'i wanted to see what its like'. McChunky/McChoke/McWtf-ever, i'm glad he wont be in philly. Time to bury his jersey outside the Linc like TO. Kolb time!
