Hey everyone

Just posting up our video from our performance over the weekend at one of Melbournes biggest Diwali festival. This is our teams very first performance. Bhangra isn't as huge here in Australia as it is in America and Canada but its getting there slowly.

Check our performance out, feedback would be awesome. We are really inspired by the work of the teams in America and Canada as they really take bhangra to a whole new level. Hopefully one day our team will get there and we can spread the bhangra culture here as much as its spread there.

Here's the link

this wasnt bad for your first performance, some of the dancers need work. Also, im not a mixer but your mix deff needs to be better. Good job overall guys, spread the bhangra fever all over the world :)

Yeh still need to work on everyone including myself. But this is only the beginning. With the mix i couldn't find a dj in time to brush the whole thing up for us so i did the best i could lol. It still clicked with the crowd though because it's not something that they see here as much. But I'm looking into working with a dj in the future. Thanks for the feedback!! :)

For a first performance, I thought that was pretty great.

Of course there was plenty of room for improvement, but it's a good starting point and I think you definitely have a lot of ideas and energy.

Moving forward, I have a few suggestions. With regards to dancers, I think you'll definitely need to do some work. It's really just getting everyone comfortable with bhangra, since it's so different from other forms of dance. And coming from a team where almost none of our (male) dancers had danced before at all, I know that it takes some time for everyone to get comfortable and confident enough to really perform well.

Choreo-wise, it seems like you have a lot of the elements you'd expect to find in a bhangra routine. Parts felt a little odd and didn't fit too well with the music, but figuring that out will come with time and watching a LOT of bhangra videos. The more videos you watch, the better idea you'll get of what segments and moves should be include, what music matches which segments, etc.

For the mix, I agree with what was said earlier in that it'll definitely need some work. I would suggest just trying to make a smooth, continuous mix that transitions well from segment to segment before trying to throw in too many extra elements. There are plenty of people who make mixes who you can reach out to on BTF and ask for tips on how to get started. Working with another DJ is also an option, but I prefer to do as much as possible myself, since it gives me a lot of control and I can work at my pace and on my time.

If you want more specific comments on the routine, mix, etc., feel free to message me and I'll give you whatever advice I can based on my experience.

Good luck!
