So i just read the entire thread...

I don't know why everyone is either hating on miami or on the opposite spectrum...picking them to win the championship. Till they get the rest of their roster together, till they get on the court, till we see their chemistry, till we see how they do towards the end of the season heading into the playoffs...sorry but lakers are favorites to repeat.

Miami is building a heck of a team. especially if they get mike miller inked soon. But miami still lacks a center which is much needed against superman's team and the celtics in the east which are close to adding yet another big man (JO).

Oh and lebron is better than kobe right NOW. Kobe is significantly older, has way more miles, and is not as physically gifted as lebron (and i am a die hard laker fan). But lebron is mentally weaker, and his legacy will definitely take a big step back since he decided to team up with wade and bosh. In the end, i am almost certain that when kobe and lebron's careers finish, kobe will be looked upon in higher regard than lebron and it is all because of lebron's decision to join the heat. Kobe in his mid 20s vs lebron right now is a good debate but still hard to compare (although 81 kinda says enough).

And Gilbert is a douche. I think it was all a marketing scheme to keep the city fired up and ticket sales high for the upcoming season (and keeping season ticket holders happy) because really...a ring for the cavs before lebron and the heat? I dont think so.

BIG Z IN THE HOUSE! Sure, not the greatest Center ever, but a good, solid veteran with playoff experience, a smart head on his shoulders and a great team player. I'll Take it.

Signed:
Mario Chalmers 1
Dwayne Wade 2
Mike Miller 2
Udonis Haslem 3/4
Lebron James 3
Chris Bosh 4
Zydrunas Ilgauskas 5
Joel Anthony 5

Look for them to keep at least Dexter Pittman from the draft picks. 6'10, 290... dudes huge. We'll see about the other forwards.

In the minimal 3 required to keep active, look to have at least one at the 1 and 3 positions each. after that i'd guess maybe one more guy who can play 3/4 for a good rotation when we wanna sit the allstars.

I'm still scared of big men like Howard and Bynum, cause Z has proven he can't handle the pick and roll with howard, its an easy score every time. But honestly, and without bias, this is starting to piece together guys. In Riley We Trust.

Miller should help with stretching out the defense. Good signing but took up alot of cap room.

Biggest thing was bringing back Haslem, you need defense and rebounding in the paint. Z is a decent signing I guess. To be honest though at this point in his career he is just a body and his shooting took a real dive last year too. If he ends up being the starter then Howard, Bogut, Horford could all eat him up in the paint. I heard the HEAT were trying to get Juwan Howard and that might be a better signing since he showed last year in Portland that he had something left.

Still need another guard for depth, preferably a PG. I know the HEAT wanted Raja Bell but doesn't look like they will have enough money to offer him.

looks like Juwan is almost a done deal as well. He would fill the backup role at the 3/4. Even if Miami goes after a PG, its hard seeing them win a championship with anthony and big Z as centers in their first year.

Interested to see the rate they get him at, because i'm not sure how many people recall back in the 90's we almost paid top dollar for this guy. NBA voided the contract which was like 100 mill?

That being said, Big Z did serve well enough getting Cleavland to the conference finals 2 years ago. I agree, theres many big man threats out there, but Ilgauskas is far from a chump. He has some defensive presence, and fills at least 3/4 of that huge hole that we had at that position, in my opinion. he'd probably be in my top 5-10 or so choices out of all the available options if I could fill that spot, so can't complain too much.

^^ I remember that. I think they miscalculated their cap allocation and the NBA pretty much said 'lol your math is wrong. stfu' and voided the deal. Good thing too, that contract the Bullets gave was essentially the same and became an albatross quick.
