rookie coach. buss family wants to shift away from triangle. probably had a shitty interview with the team. he is like kobe's bff and could easily have been manipulated by him.

mike brown is a good defensive coach. with who was available i think he is the best option. defensive and rebounds win rings. most laker fans on message boards are idiots and whoever you got they were gonna complain. if laker management thinks his offense is so bad they will hire some assistant to work on that. not a big deal.

^yup. Plus inexperience/underqualification. The Lakers dont really rebuild from the ground up, theres not a huge amount of room for development (from mediocre. Good to Great is tolerated) in a franchise that pressures itself to be the best. Hate to say it but LA does push for success harder than any other team in the league... Cept maybe the Mavs.

Former Coach of the Year vs. Phil Jackson's Unproven Understudy? For LA, thats a no brainer.

But I see big things for Shaw. I hope he goes to Golden State.

Sad to see that the buss family did not pick Brian, but the inexperience definitely was a big factor. Wish Brian the best and hope he ends up in norcal like Kush said, and that under Jerry West (kinda).

This was a terrible hire. I'd rather have Brian shaw coach then Mike Brown.

Brown had the best defender under him in 00-03 with the spurs...that guy was Bruce Bowen. Also, it's not hard to win win win with David Robinson and a young Tim Duncan. Poppavich was the engineer for the defense of every championship they won...There's no denying that Brown's teams in Cleveland were good at defense, but I think the biggest issue is the lack of offense. Running Iso is NOT how you win in this league.
