The author, Arvind-Pal Singh Mandair, is a professor at the University of Michigan. He teaches a number of classes on Sikhism and Southeastern Asian culture/religion. This is just one of the books he uses in his classes.
I would caution against grabbing this if you're just getting into the academic study of Sikhi, it takes some intellectual acrobatics to get through, especially if you're unfamiliar with postcolonial theory/south asian studies/continental philosophy and don't have someone to walk you through it. Its a superb book though.
