Hello Everyone,
First of all we would like to thank all the teams for coming and competing at our competition. We want to congratulate all the winning teams and thank each and every team that stepped on stage that night and made it a memorable one for everyone. This year was very special to us because it was the first time we organized the junior Bhangra and giddha competition. Seeing the kids perform at such high level was just unbelievable. We have received so much love and support that we do not have words to describe it.

Organizing a competition as you all know is not an easy task and I am sure during this we might have made some mistakes that we are not aware off. So we would love to have feedback from the teams on how we organized the competition. Our respected judges made the decision and we respect their decision and we will stand by it. We would like to keep this thread strictly on how we did as an organization. I know a lot of you might have some questions regarding the placings. If anyone want to discuss anything about judging please feel free to message us personally and we would love to answer it. So far what we have seen is 95% of the teams were happy with the placings.

The placings were-:

Bhangra category
3. Virginia School of Bhangra
2. DCMPAA
1. Nachdi jawani Folk Loverz

Giddha category-:

Originally it was only 1 placing as stated in our registration packet but due to the caliber of team and the scale of the competition we decided to award the teams with $500 just because we wanted to promote Giddha and give credit where its due.

So for that the placings were-:
2. Tor Punjaban di and Punjabi heritage and folk
1. Toronto Allstar Girls (TAG) Giddha

We understand results are always the hardest part but in this thread we will appreciate all the teams that attended MCB to give feedback on how the weekend was so we can improve for future as an organization.

Thanks
MCB Committee

As a dancer's first giddha competition, I believe MCB's organizer, Gary couldn't of given me a better standard to set competition expectations at. The hospitality, the care and love Gary showed each and every team was very appreciative. Gary ensured each team had what they needed at all times and always answered to our needs almost instantly. The experience of the actual competition itself was beyond my expectations because the competition ran so smoothly and everything was done on time. The judges were very educated and knowledgeable in their fields of dance. Upon meeting each judge in the judge's meeting, it was clear that they knew what they were judging as they could provide us with very clear points of improvement and also very clear points of our best moments in the performance. My overall experience at MCB couldn't of been better and I'm very glad this was the platform I got to perform at for my first giddha competition

Going to keep this short. I've been to all of the past MCB's as a dancer, a coach, and as an audience member and can honestly say this was by far the best one yet. Gary has learned from his mistakes from previous years and has grown as an organizer. He catered to every team's needs and tried his best to make sure all teams left happy. Besides the whole fiasco at the end when placings were announced, the weekend ran very smoothly.

On behalf of Virginia School of Bhangra, I would like to say thank you to the entire MCB committee for organizing a Juniors Comp on East Coast. Everything from mixer to tech time to the actual competition started on time (half or so delay is expected and unavoidable). The team deserves a great deal of credit for how smoothly everything went. We are already looking forward to next year. Shoutout to NJ for an unreal performance and congratulations to all the participating teams for showing that future is bright for Bhangra and Giddha.

Speaking on behalf of all our participants, coaching staff and 40+ supporters in attendance, we want to thank and congratulate the MCB committee on successfully hosting their first junior and giddha competition! MCB truly believes in preserving and continuing to grow our community and culture and that is a huge testament to the bhangra/giddha community.

The entire weekend was well done and ran in a timely manner. The mixer was a new concept and I think everyone enjoyed the games, food, and entertainment. The venue was good for a first year comp but I think they could have gone a bit bigger. I'm sure they will scale this accordingly for the years to come. The teams, parents, and audience members were accommodated well! I think Gary and his team covered every angel very well and will continue to grow and improve MCB in the future.

Unfortunately teams did not have a designated space to watch performances, but from what I heard all the performances were strong. It's nice to know that the future of Bhangra/Giddha is looking bright.

Shoutout to Sukhman for doing such an amazing job taking care of us. A big congrats to our friends at VSB and NJ for placing and a bigger congrats to all the teams who worked hard to put on a great show.
