Moderator's Note: Please don't disrespect the OP (original poster) or team by using profanity, calling them names, etc. They have the right to post about their situation and express their opinions on the matter.

You can disagree in other ways besides starting a flame war or trying to belittle the OP/team. Personal attacks are against BTF rules, so all let's continue to have a healthy discussion about the situation.

Nowhere did I mention that I was "afraid" that people would know Gary. I said I was aware of it. Hell of a difference there. Second of all I would hold the L with an honor if my team or I deserved it. This wasn't our first competition, we've gone to many competitions before in which we've won some and we've lost some. Whenever we have lost we accepted that with pride because mistakes were made and we didn't deserve it. But when we didn't deserve to be put through any of this bullshit, we're not gonna take it. Anyone who would be there in our place wouldn't so instead of telling us to hold the L or how our coach didn't do the right thing, just focus on the fact that no one has anything else to go against so they're just sticking to this point that OH MY GOD THEIR COACH TALKED IN FRONT OF THE AUDIENCE EVERYONE'S GONNA DIE NOW. Like chill. Some people talk in closed rooms and some want the whole world to be aware of what's going on. The amount of meetings that have happened in closed rooms have resulted in absolutely nothing. Those of you who are talking so big here have actually very little to say when the right thing is discovered. I wasn't here to seek any sympathy, to have a re judgement or to hurt any individuals. I was here to keep my point and i did. As far as the thing goes about gary, I am saying the same thing again and again which you people arent getting. Only thing against Gary is that his words did not match his actions. Lol all of you who are telling us to let it go and move on, we eventually will after this matter is sorted out but I hope that none of you are ever in a situation like this where you have to fight alone for your basic right of just keeping your opinion. Dont ever take things for granted in your life. The ethics, the rules, everything are made by human beings and no rules no ethics are above mankind so when something wrong happens and you have to stand up against it, the last thing a person should check is "oh let me think first should I react in a room? Should I react on stage? Should I go back home amd react?" Like come on. And if people are saying that the kids of other teams got affected by something then sorry to break it to you but we had kids on our team too who weren't very thrilled by the judges' attitude. The yelling was initiated by a judge. My coach requested for the mic and when she was not given the mic my coach went up and she was right to do so. So your points about "your coach was wrong" or that "you scared the kids" are gonna get thrown out the window because our team also had kids and the only reason our coach had to yell was because she was being interupted by the judges over and over again.

Because you said you were afraid people will be defending Gary, I do not know Gary nor have I attended any of his competitions. I'm giving my opinion based upon what I've read here.

First of all, why do you think you deserved first place? You and your team members keep on repeating that the judges and organizers broke the rules, what are the rules then? I don't see other teams that placed complaining about their placings at this competition. Do you understand why majority of us are questioning your actions? Because you have not substantially given us any evidence to show that you deserved first place or why these placings were "wrong". All we're seeing is complaints without evidence and honestly, a lot of whining. What did you expect to get out of complaining about the placings on BTF and I forgot to add, complaining on stage at the competition? A re-judging? With Reign of Bhangra, multiple teams and dancers came out (AFTER the competition was over) and stated that the placings were off and gave evidence as to why. This lead to the re-judging. However, all I see here is your team complaining that you didn't win and you deserved first place. There are multiple people that posted in this thread that were at the competition and they have said opposite things as to what you're complaining about. What we're seeing are sore losers. You will not always get your way. You will not always win when you think you should have and you are deserving of so. This is life ladies. Do you know how many placings at competitions there have been where some teams, dancers and/or audience members disagreed with the placings? Pretty much every competition that has ever taken place. Learn from this experience, take it as a life lesson and move on. The more complaining and whining you all do, the less of an effect or impact you all will have.
We would love to give you an evidence so as soon as we get it, people can see for themselves.

Every perspective presented here is valid and we respect it as well. This thread was initially started to make the community aware of what happened in the competition. We aren't asking for first place, we are just raising awareness. The competition already happened and its all behind us now, but we are portraying our perspective out here. We could've made mistakes but there was nothing done to purposely hurt anyone. We are very grateful for the opportunity we were provided and for the platform. We are honored that we got to share the stage with such talented teams ans individuals. We are going to move on and so is everyone else, but we just don't want the circuit of the bhangra community to be corrupt. We have lost many times and accepted the loss with pride when we didn't deserve it. However even right now we aren't fighting for first, we dont want a re judgement. We are only raising awareness about what happened at the competition. The competition was amazing to be a part of, we are thankful that everyone helped us and made sure we were comfortable. From the teams that participated to the organizers we are thankful for their help and their initiative to help us to the greatest extent. We hold no personal grudge against the judges either, we were just not satisfied with the judgement and our voice was wasn't heard, we were struggling for our voice to be heard. Our main goal to is to just raise awareness, so this doesn't happened to other teams. We aren't targeting any individual person or the competition itself, we are just providing the details of our experience so it doesn't happen to other teams or individuals.

My proposal so that I wont suffer such personal attack in future:

1) we have 2 types of winners: the peoples choice, and the actual champion judged by judges
2) after each team performs, the judge says to audience to vote on scale 1-5 on a btf application connected to their iphone and judge tallies all the points at the end for that team
3) the team who has the most points from audience is the peoples choice winner
4) this is important metric to compare whether judges and the audience are far apart in their viewing of a team. I see all this disagreement from teams that are complaining that the audience all thought they should have won. When a team does well at the end of a competition you can hear it from the audience when cheering occurs from the audience section. So this way, we can compare from an audience perspective who was more entertaining by making them a part of the judging perspective

Thanks

Your "proposal" is fine if entertainment is the only factor, but it's not. Have you seen a judging rubric? How can you expect each audience member to judge each team based on a sophisticated rubric?

Btw, most cheered team ≠ best team. In many cases, most cheered team = team with the most fans in the audience (i.e. if a team in local to an area, there is a greater chance that there will be more local fans supporting that team).
