That is just plain disgusting. But honestly this might just fuel the hostile sentiments people already have against the Muslim community. Is that something worth facing? People need to remove the misconstrued notions they have of Islam but that doesn't seem to be happening anytime soon.SahilShah said:can you believe this?...abhigames said:and hopefully no hate crimes or anti-islamic fuel comes out of this....but it probably will.

Interesting point Navi. A church in Mecca is like a Mosque at the Vatican, Mecca is holy land and is a different story. However, Saudi Arabia DOES have extremely one sided and close minded policies when it comes to freedom of religion. Should America stoop to the same standards?Navi Sandhu said:Another opposition argument: Would a church be allowed to stand in Mecca?

Navi, unfortunately what you are talking about is the exact purpose of the Cordoba Center (now nicknamed the 'Ground Zero mosque'). I'm not going to say much, just check out their website and read their about us or mission statement (which I doubt 95% of the people who are arguing in this debate have even educated themselves about).Navi Sandhu said:Agreed Waleed. America ideally doesn't represent those mentalities.
This fight for a mosque at the World Trade shouldn't be fought with arguments of religion and freedom to practice religion. That's what will push the opposition even further because they will fight back with their own religious arguments which are equally strong.
This fight should be fought with arguments of solidarity and unity. Right now it seems like the motive is just to promote Islam and its people. Thats only going to make ignorant people even more ignorant.
The motive is to promote a sense of progression and unity; a fight to break hostilities. Maybe arguments should focus on this instead.
